Babies arrived!

My new babies arrived today from Flip Aquatics. All 8 alive, 2 were a little pale and sluggish during acclimation but once in the tank seemed ok. They all swam and swam for a few hours and now only 2 are out and about. Not sure where the rest are hiding😂😂 I assume this is normal? They also show zero interest in the all the snails I have been collecting for the 2 months I have been getting their home ready but they ate live black worms right away.

Help with plants

Hello, I am almost 4 weeks in on cycling this tank. I am planning on dwarf pea puffers so trying to take my time but I am struggling. I have two 10 gallon betta tanks that didn’t give me any trouble! I have the soil in mesh bags capped with sand and I actually just emptied the tank, pulled all the plants and added more sand to try to get these stem plants to stay in the sand. They still are coming up. The driftwood I glued three Anubis and only the middle one made it. I did trim the other two bc the rhizome seems ok-not mushy. The water wysteria which is suppose to be so easy I salvaged 3 stems that look rough. I have root tabs planted and I am using the coop liquid fert. I just got two Amazon swords today that I haven’t decided how to plant in here yet but what I need is line of sure breaks. Any advice welcome. The val I got from someone local and I hate the look so i planted just a few and gave the rest to family. Any suggestions on how to get this moving without spending a bunch more money? I have thrown out more than half the plants I have ordered. I also got a bunch of hornwort and didn’t like that either-it made a huge mess and is part of the reason i had to empty the tank and clean the sand. I removed all of it as well.

Plants

Hello all, I am cycling this 28g shallow with the hopes of getting pea puffers. I am really struggling with the plants and ended up draining the water yesterday to clean out all the dead ones and plant some new ones. I have root tabs and liquid fert I am using twice a week. The one Anubis on the wood is doing great but I originally have three of them on the wood and two of them melted. I cut the leaves and left the rhizome bc those seemed to be ok. I used super glue and attacked them all the same way. No idea why one would survive and the others didn’t. All bought at the same time. My order of plants yesterday didn’t look great, I planted the ones that looked decent but worried they will rot too. Even the water wysteria that everyone claims is so easy I had to pull half of it out. My guppy grass which i keep in my other tanks melted within days. So weird and I don’t know why. I have a layer of aqua soil under the sand as well. Any suggestions? I have two other tanks that are thriving and those don’t even have the aqua soil!

Dwarf pea puffers and medka

I really want some dwarf peas. Has anyone ever mixed them with the peaceful medaka that prefer to swim at the top of the water? I have them in an outdoor pond and have a 29 gallon long cycling for them for fall but I would love to add some dwarf peas.

Help-hot weather and dry

My fry pond is losing water super fast in this heat. It’s evaporating a few inches in a few hours. I added some but don’t know how much water I can safely add at a time.

Plants

Should I remove some of these floating plants? I already moved some to my 20 gallon mini pond and now that’s full of fry. I don’t want to remove eggs but I also don’t really want to go buy another container. Right now there are at least 4 fry hiding in this pond near the little hide house, they have been there a few days. I tried to scoop them out and got one but I was worried I was going to hurt them as well as bring more attention to them. The adults already seem to know they are there bc they are swimming in that area often looking around.

Fry

My first bunch of fry seem to be doing ok. In my pond I have platinum blue and red king glitter adults. The fry appear to look either black or clear. Any ideas what the color difference means?

Babies

I got babies-quite a few of them. I ran to the store and bought the aquarium coop easy fry food. Is it going to be small enough for their little mouths?

Help

I am trying to move my guppy from my pond to a tank inside and I absolutely can’t get him out. Any suggestions? I even emptied the pond as much as I could and the little bugger just can’t be caught.

Stressed?

I got this little lady about a week ago and my male has been bugging her. I just put this guppy grass in and now she’s not leaving that area much. Is she just hiding from him or is she ill? I have 4 females and one male guppy and then a 11 medaka in 50 gallons. Lots of hiding spots but decided to add this guppy grass so not sure if she’s just laying low and likes the grass. I did quarantine her but only for a couple weeks.

I upgraded my mini pond-so far I am happy with this Amazon purchase. It’s 50 gallons. I have 11 medaka, 3 guppies and 3 snails that all seem to be happy.

Research before purchasing fish PSA.

My mother loves my little patio pond so much she decided to make her own. A few weeks ago I was at her house with my sister as she was starting and prepping her pond I told her and my sister NO GOLDFISH! Apparently her and my sister were half listening to me or me being the “baby” of the family they think I know nothing bc today I show up at her house and low and behold she has 4 goldfish in her small patio pond that My sister took her to buy 😡😡now guess who is returning those fish tonight-ME! Please please research prior to adding fish. She has 4 goldfish in a 15 gallon max tank! Now keep in mind she is 76 years old and still has the thought that goldfish can live happily in a bowl! I told her not on my watch and that she better listen to me, the person who researches everything before I do it!!

I upgraded my patio pond that has medaka and three snails. I saw eggs all over the sides of the container. I left them but how do I know in the future if they are snails eggs or medaka?

Can anyone tell me what sex my white platinum guppy is? My son got it from local store and they said they don’t sex guppies. It’s in our pond with our medaka fish and we love it-just curious as to male or female.

What could be wrong with this fella? His eye appears to have something going on and his fin looks like something happened.
