Before taking any big steps, I'd really love to hear from people who actually live there right now. How is the general vibe for solo female expats? Is it pretty easy to settle in, feel safe, and make friends?

Also, for someone's first time staying long term, where would you recommend starting out? I hear a lot about Chiang Mai vs Bangkok for remote work, but I'm open to any suggestions.
