Knicks fans when you tell them theres a non-zero percent chance that Haliburton comes back the same
Purely from a basketball standpoint Indiana is objectively the best landing spot for Lebron James.
Look, LeBron has always been pretty theatrical when it comes to the teams he goes to. Indiana exists far outside the bubble of his preferred locations and Im sure that will play a factor in his final decision of where he wants to end his career but if you cover up the names of the cities and just show the rosters and coaching staffs and then ask him where it makes the most sense, it's Indy and it's not particularly close.
Haliburton, Nembhard, Nesmith, Siakam, Zubac, Mcconnell, Oubre, Toppin... that is an unselfish, mature, experienced, seasoned group of guys who want to win and play under the best coach in the league, Rick Carlisle. There's no bullshit, no fluff, no immaturity on our roster. Just dudes with one purpose and that's to get back to the championship because we were so close we could taste it. Our core eight or nine guys are mostly husbands, fathers, guys who understand the league and the rigors of playoff winning.
So he gets what he wants: the best possible roster that plays fast, cohesive, energetic and unselfish basketball without the media slandering him for bandwagoning a champion. Literally the only downside is living in Indianapolis for like nine months but Idc Cleveland is worse and he did that for however many years.
LeBron is close with Haliburton. Honestly who isn't? He's incredibly easy to play with and get along with on a human level. Their podcast together from like five months ago was an enjoyable watch. LeBron has spoken openly about how much he loves TJM's style of play and lord knows he loves having a cold white dude who looks like a finance bro on his team.
If he wants to start he and Siakam would be an incredibly imposing forward duo. Haliburton has stretches where he likes to give ball handling duties to Nembhard and LeBron would be a great backup point of attack ball handler while mainly directing traffic off ball. If he wants to come off the bench with TJ and Obi... omg. LeBron could literally add a sixth man of the year award to his trophy case.
Probably won't work out. I bet his agent is signing the paperwork for him to play in Golden State as we speak but a guy can dream.
Aaron Eckhart as Andrew Jackson in a biopic
Just finished reading American Lion and I can't help but picture Eckhart's Harvey Dent as the seventh American president.
