So, you've got NOAA tests on Wednesday but ever since I was a kid I can remember hearing a random test interrupt the station, no 1050hz tone and return to programming within seconds, no alert.

What causes it? Very rare here, once in a blue moon if that but it just happened and while we had storms much earlier in the day, the entire coverage area is clear. I know I could decode it but I am using a traditional police scanner.

As im typing this they just did another one and this time the master station announced it.

I've started playing his old shows depsite the current coast to coast program still being on the air (Art passed in 2018 I believe) and I'm curious who out there was lucky enough to hear some of the crazy shows live during its original airings, was it really that popular with the night crews?

3 key shows that come to mind, that would have been insane to hear live. Guy flys into tonopah, gets shot down live / guy reveals new world order, radio station is knocked off the air in a way that defies physics and of course ... Mel's hole.
