Making a Tv series about this game will be so lit

It can easily become the Game Of Thrones of SciFi.

Complex politics on earth as people discover the aliens, a mix of spy work, detective work, politics work, celebrity work, all fused togather. You need a case the size of GOT for that.

Than in later seasons, the story of mars, mercury and ceres colonists, and a war in space, like the Expanse Tv Series.

This can easily span 10 seasons, and become the GOAT

The Initiative are the good guys

EDIT: this subreddit needs a healthy amount of Neopherocyte to make it more convincing, I will discuss it in the next initiative board meeting.

____________________________________

The Initiative is what happened if the heroes from the book "Atlas shrugged" are meeting an alien invasion.

I will explain:

How do you win against Alien Enemy that is always 1 step before you ? you outsmart it.

No, you don't outsmart it by making an organization named "the resistance" or "Humanity first" since their naming alone.... ehem, kind-of tells everything about them.

You don't go and yell from the rooftops you are against the aliens, since they will come after you. they are tougher and meaner than you,

This is NOT a Hollywood movie where the heroes got a plot armor.

Instead, you disguise yourself as a greedy billionaire that will do anything for an extra buck. That is the smartest cover since there is a hint of truth in it.

What is more clever is the fact that the Hydra is a militaries society, they don't appreciate industrialists, economists or inventors, for them, they look at this people as "this money people we don't care about" like most dictators and military man do. which gives the initiative even more advantage in hiding.

hell, half of reddit thinks that billionaires are evil bastards that are here for themselves only, that makes the billionaire cover even more perfect.

and when they do so, they work on their freedom, since what billionaires appreciate more than anything isn't money, it's freedom, since money is meaningless without freedom.

How do I know the Initiative are the good guys ? because they hit the Alien the hardest at the end, their ending IS THE BEST ENDING.

The initiative TOOK CONTROL of the entire hydra race, freed all the nations under their command, and made peace in the galaxy.

Furthermore, they used the mind control ability of the Hydra on humans, not to enslave them, but to make them better versions of themselves. and they didn't force it, they made it clear: if you want to live in a pocket of chaotic mess, go there, if you want to live in a productive healthy society, come to us.

(Humanity first sent a virus to kill most hydras, the Resistance just closed the portal.

The Academy sent some stupid delegation and offered peace, with 0 regard to the other enslaved races. )

How easy it is to play this game, in terms of UI ?

I just came from a game that had good ideas but a TERRIBLE UI , and I am sick of it. I just exhausted from games with bad user interfaces.

So my question is - will starsector drag me via the same problem ?

I already bought the game and played it before but i don't remember much, I am more worried about the ease to play it over time:

battleships, moving the ships, frustration that I asked the ship to do A and it did B.

or frustration and "fighting with the menu" instead of "fighting with the help of the menu", etc etc....

I didn't play this game much, but I remember that the start involved piloting a small ship and it was hard to handle: how to rotate, how to move, how to fire, how to switch to a different fire, group fires. I can't even have the mentality to sit and play the game and find out because I don't want to be slapped in the face again. again, I am exhausted. it's either this or I play a FPS game. so save my soul please lol

how long it took you to be in "the zone" and play it flawlessly

I am tired from the space battles UI - venting

I try , really try, to make sense of how it all works, I have 200+ hours in Terra invicta, I won 1 game, I still can't get this bloody UI for the life of me.

The only thing that works is just set the fleet to "AI control" and be done with it.

if I try to switch to manual - stuff doesn't work. I don't understand the reason behind ship's decisions, I ask them to do something, they don't do it , I ask them to not-do something, they still do it.

And it doesn't matter if you explain it to me or not, believe me I have done so many questions in this subreddit and I thank you all for all your answers, I also answered other people questions...

it's just that I am tired that I need to play this game with 1 open page of reddit. and I am tired to pretend the game developer made good space fights.

cinematic ? absolutely.

controlled ? hell no.

And it's not the only thing that makes this game frustrating.

>!1: Take the "alien landing army" for example, the landing army of aliens, !<

>!when it lands, you have a month to send your armies there, when the aliens go out of the invader ship, their power is half of what they are suppose to be.!<

>!so this makes it the right moment to strike.!<

>!now let's say you are USA and the army landed on South Africa, can you just tell South Africa you are going to land your armies there ? nope.!<

>!you either need to: waste many days trying to ally with them, than they will allow you to land armies there, it will take 4 months, you have 30 days. boom, aliens land, get powerful, you are dead.!<

>!OR: you just invade south africa, but to do that, you need to wait for your agent to make the mission "make policy" in USA, than you can declare war, it will waste you a lot of days as well.!<

>!And it's not a small thing either, it's the kind of move that will decide if your game lose or win. if alien armies are too strong, you lose. period. bye bye.!<

>!So.. a lose or win situation. so what USA will tell it's children ? "oh sorry, I really wanted to go to south Africa and save the world, but TERRA INVICTA UI SAID NO" !<

2: another example:

I want to tell , in space battle, to my ships, to move to some position, in the XYZ area of the map.

well, I can't. I just can't.

the aliens are able to do maneuvers like this: group A move in front of the enemy. group B maneuvers behind he enemy, and than they group A and B try to hit the enemy (me) at the same time.

it's a good maneuver, and I, as a human player, have 0 tools to make it happened.

in most games, the human player have better tools to use against the NPC player. but in this game it's the opposite: the NPC player have more tools than the human player.

3: I can give you many more interesting maneuvers I can make as a player in Terra invicta space game I just can't make:

to overwhelm the PD of the enemy, I need to overwhelm them with a lot of missiles,

for that I have 2 kinds of missiles, both are very fast: the "Racer" missile- super fast, small damage. and a lot of ammo.

and the "Vapor" missile: half as fast (Still very fast) , much more damage. moderate amount of ammo .

Ok, now let's say I want to do this maneuver "see how far we are from the enemy, fire the Vapor missiles, than fire the Racer missile, so they will both approach the PD of the enemy at the same time, and overwhelm it"

again, I can't do it.

4: the nuclear button: do I need to say more ? nobody knows when I can click it or not. I had alien armies right in front of me, but the button wasn't able to be clicked. there were no "list of conditions for this button to be clicked" or something. 0 explanation. I used it only once and to this day I am surprised it worked at all.

5: so all of this leaves Terra Invicta game as a game that is focused on one thing only: make the better ships , somehow, and than fight aliens on somehow equel terms.

any ship you deploy before that - you cannot use your human advantage against the NPC. the UI won't allow you to do so.

I mean, you CAN do some stuff, for example I can order the priority target to shift, for some reason it's not working anymore on my missile ships, but whatever. It's not enough.

6: I am tired from all of this , a game is like a wife - once you get hooked to one, it's hard to go away, even if the wife is kind-of mean to me. so I am too tired to try to follow another totally new game and get screwed over by a developer who makes it 95% good, but the 5% are so dumb and frustrating it makes you tired to play it and face this stupidity again and again. on the other hand Terra Invicta makes me tired as well.

so I am stuck lol

thanks for listening to my venting.
