WE GOT AN EGG!

After burying herself for a day and a half under mulch we unburied her to bring her in. Was told don’t leave her out over 90 or under 50.
She was ready! Caught the first egg popping out within minutes of putting her back in the tank!!
I feel like I’m on Wild Kingdom!!
We’ve taped paper over the front so she can be on her own — last X-ray showed 8.
Guess she needed some quiet time to reflect and get ready for labor.

Dan is actually a Danielle

I hope I’m not the only one- but took my RES to the vet for yearly check up. Did some X-rays and found 4 eggs. We’ve gave Dan 11 years.
So need to create a turtle helping box. Any suggestions for a successful delivery? If box doesn’t work we’re inducing end if next week.
This is turtle life.

Fluval Fx4 and Fx6

I just scored a 125 gallon tank for my RES. He only has 2 legs so tank can never really go above 10” deep as he needs to still rely on big rocks here and there.
Along with tank they gave me both fx4 and 6. I’m guessing the 6 would be major overkill but would it reduce the big clean of the tank- just turning over water every few days? Would the 4 be enough? Since tank about 1/2 full.
How hard does the return blow? He has got caught up in a rip tide! His bubbler sometimes can blow him off balance.
While I’m at it- how do I get him to eat vegetables? He was fostered for 7 years while we lived in another state and they got him use to mealworms, shrimp and pellets. He refuses all veggies. I’ve even chopped it up really small and mixed it with the other stuff- and the little jerk will spit it all out and refuse to eat!! What a dick!
I’ve tried reducing his feeding but he still looks at me like no way lady. I’ve never let this showdown go longer than a week. I swear it’s like dealing with a toddler.
All input welcome.
Thanks!!

Now he’s just a Zombie!

I’ve gotten more and more annoyed with it. He’s alive. 12 hrs plus after he died. It’s the 18th century. All the men knew he was dead. He was a zombie folks. To take such a great love story and end it like that was just disappointing.

Here’s my take-

  1. The last season left all the characters you’ve grown to care about without closure.
  2. Faith got too much screen time.
  3. The battle scene could have been much shorter to give the seasoned characters their due.
And- 4. The breath was the worst ending they could have gone with.

IMO Claire’s hair turning white would show she tired- and gave everything she had. I loved the flashbacks. In the morning she is confirmed dead by Rodger, Buck and Ian. Bodies are taken back to FR and buried together.

I keep thinking about Where the Red Fern Grows. One cannot survive without the other. (Yes I know dogs-but it was based on an unbreakable bond even after death)
Then we go see the family they left behind.

Wouldn’t it have been beautifully heartbreaking to see William teaching a little red headed boy how to ride? Hear him call the boy James?
See Ian’s two kids running with their own Rollo? See Marsai and sons (and spare daughters) running a print shop?
See Rodger with a congregation?
Brie possible teaching science to a group of children?
Their kids…doing something?! 🤣

Keep the author signing. But then end with this.

Fast forward, see a sign that says Frazier Ridge Trail.
-A person is hiking, we only see their feet.
-We see hands clearing away brush, and come across the tombstone with their names.
-Forget me nots are growing around and we see a few bees flying.
-A hand reaches out and touches the stone.
-As they walk away we see a scarf made of the Frazier tartan.
And I made all that up while typing this.

The gasp did a disservice to the two characters and their bond.
This is MY opinion. I’m sharing. Not telling anyone else what they think is wrong.
But. You gotta admit- I just made a much better ending, right? 😏
