When was “Childhood”used? It was listed in the credits.

In the credits one of the songs listed was “Childhood”. When was this used? I’m assuming it was an instrumental bit.

This movie causes a sense of catharsis and it’s been good for me

Someone wrote about it causing catharsis somewhere else and it absolutely nailed it for me.

Now I always liked MJ since the early 90s. Always appreciated him. I wasn’t an intense fan but really liked him especially the song Keep the Faith . Not super emotionally invested as some are but followed his career from afar .

But it’s not just grieving him …it brought up strong positive feelings of watching premieres of his videos like black or white, watching the making of Thriller multiple times as I swear it was on every weekend on VH1 😆 or counting down to the Scream premiere, watching on HBO that one 1992 concert with my cousin and I barely knew who he was and more . I realised how many strong good memories I have wrapped up in him during my chaotic childhood. Just made me miss him a lot and not only that, my best friend passed last year way too young and she LOVED him. One of my earliest memories is her screaming at my old roommate and defending him . And I get sad because I KNOW she would have loved this so much. I’ve gone 6 times because it just feels like this is releasing some big feelings I didn’t know I had at all. I’d cry in my car for a bit….Maybe because I’m a huge hard ass but man it tapped in deep in my soul. The musical did something similar as well.

Who else experienced this? Almost like therapy.

Social media presence before his passing?

I’ve been a fan since I was a kid in the 90s but there was a bit of a gap where he was in the background more , especially during 2005-2009.

Social media was around then. Did he have an official Facebook page or official MySpace and if so, what did they post? I know they did a bit on his own website and that seemed to be the main way to be in contact and in the know with fans it seems but curious on how his social presence was back then as it was a different world back then with it.

What was your favourite non performance/non musical scene?

For me it was when his dad confronted him in his bedroom about doing the Victory Tour. His subtle facial expressions and overall look are so eerily MJ. This is when I truly forgot it wasn’t him.

Does the Michael movie make anyone else feel finally seen or connected?

I feel like this is the first time in years where something I have an interest is being recognised and talked about.

I don’t care about Marvel movies . Or Taylor Swift. Or Star Wars or Wicked or whatever is popular during the time. I’m never part of the “big conversation “ it seems haha The stuff I enjoy is niche and it’s ALWAYS been that way. My whole life. And I know he isn’t niche , he just isn’t talked or celebrated to this extent. Like after I saw the musical I was so sad I had no one really to talk to about it 😆

So seeing this blow up and seeing his music chart or being discussed on social media makes me happy. Finally something I am part of and been part of for decades is being talked about in a positive light you know?

I wonder if this is why so many people are watching it over and over as well. Like it’s finally their time to enjoy something.

Anyone else have this feeling?

Anyone else surprised there’s no “sing along “ showings?

I wouldn’t go to one because that absolutely isn’t my thing but it seems like this is such an easy way to draw in more people /bigger numbers and get fans together.

Do you think they’ll have one at the end of the run? 🤔

Checking in..how many times have you seen it?

Let it be known I haven’t been to the movies since 2018. Not much appeals to me…but this? Seen it 5 times.

Mayyyy go next week as it’s still in IMAX nearby. It’s just such a nice cozy warm movie and I feel like I won’t get the same feeling watching it at home .

How about you?

Went to see it yesterday again and multiple showings and theatres were full .

Went yesterday and just want to say, we tried to go to multiple theatres in the city and most were full for the day! We had to go across town and there was only 3 seats left . But found multiple shows either only front row or a few scattered seats. Not bad for a few weeks in ;)

My friends would think I’m absolutely nuts if he knew. I am away on business and my hotel was right next to a imax theatre. And I just saw yesterday too before I left. They would secretly judge me and honestly, I get it 😆 but I had to see the Human Nature scene ONE last time in imax. Basically paid for that .

But I have a feeling this will be the last time for awhile. I don’t want it to become just a movie for me. I want to keep it fresh :) Anyone else see it 4+ times?

So the first time I watched I walked out thinking …eh. It was decent. I had my criticisms. For whatever reason it didn’t click with me yet. I think because my husband didn’t care for it and I didn’t get a chance to really process it . And we saw it on a smaller screen.

Then I saw it on Imax . Wholeeee new experience and felt like I was really immersed. It completely changed my thoughts on it.

Then today my flight got cancelled and I’m stuck overnight here and found out there’s a massive IMAX in Sydney and saw it again and omgggg. I swear it gets better EVERY time. Like I felt like crying the second it started. I felt overwhelmed.

The last time I got this invested in a movie was almost 30 years ago with Selena when I was a child as I was a huge fan of hers. I guess I didn’t realise I was ever this emotional about him. I always liked him and listened to him since I was a child and followed his career but not like super emotionally invested like some people are. Like even when he died I was like “oh no!that’s so sad!!” But I wasn’t crying for days like some.

I think this has brought up emotions I didn’t know I had. Like I walked out this third time with a full on migraine because I got so emotional.

Anyone else just keep getting pulled in to see it?

So I saw it a few nights back. I liked it but sort of wanted more out of it. I went to a smaller cinema with a smaller screen and sound. It was fine and I had a good time.

Decided to see it again since I knew what to expect but wanted a different experience. Now IMAX makes it a WHOLE different experience. It alone makes the last 40 mins or so incredibly immersive. I highly recommend seeing it in this format if you haven’t seen it yet or maybe was iffy on round 1.
