The shifter the world has been waiting for - Project progress - November launch

Hey everyone,
Some of you might remember our earlier posts about the “shifter the world has been waiting for.” Since then, we’ve made quite a lot of progress, so we wanted to share a proper update.

We’ve now built and tested several prototypes, mainly focusing on getting the mechanical feel right. There have been plenty of revisions along the way, but we’re now at the point where the final mechanical design is finished.
The shifter still uses our active lockout system.

The current plan is to officially launch the shifter in late November.

We’ve included a mix of renders and real photos in this post.

The pictures with the styled purple/green studio
backgrounds are renders of the finished design.

The simpler black-background pictures are real photographs of actual manufactured prototype parts.

We’ve also been testing different finishes. So far we have:
Black
Green
Raw/brushed stainless

This is still something we can change before launch, so we’d really like to hear what people prefer.

Which one would you choose for your rig?

And if you’d rather see another color, let us know.

We’ll also be starting to post more development content on our YouTube channel, NIDY Racing. As we get closer to launch, we’ll be uploading videos showing the actual mechanism working, the active lockout system, shifting tests, prototypes, and eventually the complete production shifter.

If there’s anything specific you’d like us to show in the YouTube videos, let us know as well. Whether that’s close-ups of the mechanism, how the lockout works, shift-force testing, sound, setup, durability testing, or something else, we’re happy to take suggestions.
So if you’ve been following the project and want to see it actually moving rather than just getting occasional update posts, YouTube will probably be the best place to follow the development.
There’s still some testing and production work left before November, but the design itself is essentially finished now.
We’d love to hear what you think of the final design, the colors, and anything you’d change.
And thanks again to everyone who gave feedback on the earlier posts, a lot of it has genuinely been useful during development.
Official launch planned for late November.

NIDY Active Shifter, Project Update + YouTube Channel

Mechanical assembly

A little follow-up to our previous post where we first showed the NIDY Active Shifter project.

Development is continuing, and the first complete v0.1 mechanical assembly is now together. We’ve also started a YouTube channel for the project, where we’ll be sharing more of the development as it progresses.

The first video is up now and shows the mechanical assembly from individual parts to the finished build.

We’ll still post the bigger milestones and updates here on Reddit, but YouTube will be the main place to follow the project more closely and see more of the actual development and testing process.

There is still a lot to improve and refine from v0.1, so feedback, questions and suggestions are always welcome.

The shifter the world has been wating for!

Hello everyone!

We’re Nidy Racing, and for approximately two years we’ve been developing a unique active H-pattern sim racing shifter that we plan to release publicly.

The planned features include:

Active clutch lockout

H-pattern and sequential modes

Adjustable shifting force

Different fixed throw-length versions, depending on demand

SimHub integration

The active clutch lockout is intended to prevent the driver from entering a gear when the clutch is not sufficiently engaged.

The shifter is being developed with a strong focus on durability and mechanical feel, using materials such as titanium, stainless steel, brass, aluminium, and engineering plastics in the construction.

Our target price is approximately $500–700 USD excluding VAT, depending on the final version and specifications. Our goal is to offer an active shifter at a substantially lower price than the current alternatives on the market, while keeping the mechanism durable, responsive, and mechanically robust.

The images shown are currently renders of the design. We expect to have a complete working prototype ready to demonstrate in approximately two weeks, and we will share real photos and videos once it is assembled and operational.

We would really appreciate feedback from the sim racing community:

Which features matter most to you in a shifter like this?

Would you prefer a short, medium, or long throw?

Is there anything specific you would want to see in the first prototype demonstration?

Do you prefer a louder mechanical sound or a dampened quieter sound?

Thanks for reading, we’re excited to finally start sharing what we’ve been working on.
