I MET NICOLAS WINDING REFN AND HE SIGNED MY COPY OF GUMMO

This was like a month ago but I’m still fucking screaming!!!!!

I have always been a huge fan of NWR’s work, with several of his movies being in my top 100 rank of all time, specifically at Number 5, 30, and now with his latest feature of Her Private Hell, he has achieved a third spot at number 66. I do not care what anyone says about this movie, most all critiques are that it’s boring, or they’re rooted in some form of incel shit, from what I’ve seen. The acting was stellar from a star studded cast, the set design and score were actually so fucking tear-jerkingly beautiful (just like Sophie Thatcher ahem), the vibes were on point, story and writing were amazing, and of course NWR gave nothing short of some of his best direction. I know of hardly anyone who dislikes the film who also doesn’t understand the point and context of its existence.

Films aren’t meant to be understood, they’re meant to be felt. This isn’t NWR’s megalopolis; this is NWR’s Mulholland Drive.

Anyways, I went to the North American Premiere here in Montreal with my grandma, and as we’re waiting for our taxi home, I turn around and see through the window NWR walking right towards us. After he leaves the building we have a quick chat and he signs my DVD, snaps a few photos and leaves. Genuinely nice guy.
