My pet insurance has doubled

In my last policy year I maxed out my cats policy limit of £4000. He was hit by a car and his treatment cost almost 9k.

He is 2 years old and his policy had doubled to £34 a month. I am with RSPCA and having researched I should have not gone with them. I did not realise I would be penalised for claiming on the policy and this would cause an increase in the premium. I would expect the premium to increase by age and maybe slightly by claiming but my last years policy was £209.40 and now is going up to 397.80 which is insane!!!

I guess it is too late to change now as my cat though stable has had traumatic facial injuries, nerve damage etc. so anything face related would just get listed as per existing

Weekend drinking

Hi everyone

My fiancé (m29) and me (f29) have been together for 6 years. My partner has always enjoyed a drink but I am becoming more and more aware that I am not ok with his drinking habit. My partner will buy a big crate of beer on a Friday and will often drink anywhere from 4-8 cans sometimes more everyday between Friday and Sunday. He could easily finish a crate off in a weekend. This can sometimes be paired with other drinks, for example a few weekends ago he also finished a 1 litre bottle of vodka, plus beers. This Sunday he had 2 bottles of wine.

9 times out of 10, my partners behaviour isn’t effected. He usually plays playstation or watches YouTube. He still functions in the mornings and works really hard. There are the odd occasions where it does affect his behaviour and he can be a real a** hole. He has also taken a day off work due to drinking and being too hungover.

I have approached him many times about his drinking and stated I am concerned it is getting out of hand, that I think he could be a binge drinker and that i would like if he could cut down. Sometimes I think I don’t even know the full extent of his drinking as I work shifts. I often get met with excuses saying he is stressed, that he uses it to wind down after a hard week of working, he isn’t causing anyone any harm, he wants an easy life, I’m controlling and need to get off his back.

I’m really struggling as I love him and I love the life we have built together. But I know we would be so much happier if he cut back. His weekends revolve around alcohol - weekends are precious to me I only get 2 off a month and it’s not how i think of spending my weekend.

I’m just at a complete loss. I have told him I will leave him, he thinks I’m being dramatic. I tell him if he doesn’t have a problem then to not drink for a weekend. He can’t do it. Everything I suggest gets shut down and turned back to me being a controlling partner.

It worries me that his drinking will get worse. I am worried he is over the limit when leaving for work in the mornings. I am worried on the impact on his health with the amount he drinks.

I feel I have no one to talk to. I know my friends and family will say it is not normal the amount he drinks. I think his family won’t think he has an issue because they like a drink and my partner will water it down and make it seem like I am the problem.

We have discussed children in the next few years but this is really making me question whether I would want my children around this amount of drinking and I wouldn’t. I don’t want to leave him but I feel like I’m banging my head in a brick wall with him.

I’m not sure what I am hoping from this - maybe some advice. Am I over reacting ?
