OpenDome entry by some photographer wearing CRC work boots in the office

Somebody made a comment to the effect of preferring to see work boots worn by people in the trades and not photographers in the office, hence my title. 😂 I used a color checker for white balance.

10” Horween Cypress Raisin Cherry on T55 last, all eyelets, medallion cap toe, Dogger heel, V-bar sole.

US Navy Blue Angels Practicing over Lake Washington [G9 II + 50-200mm f2.8-4.0]

I took some photos of the UW Navy Blue Angels practicing yesterday (Thursday, July 30, 2026) with my Lumix G9 II and the PanaLeica 50-200 f2.8-4.0. The atmospheric conditions were not the best, with plenty of haze in the air and heat from the bridge deck, but I had a good time. The underside of the jets were often in shade/shadow because they came flying up from the south/southeast most of the time.

I saw several other photographers out, mainly Canon and Sony, with their big white lenses, that stayed close to one end of the floating bridge. The best shots were from the middle of the span as it seemed the Blue Angels were using that as their flyover point and there was less background noise from the surrounding trees and houses.

New Belts Day

Happy Anniversary, Nick’s!

I ordered three belts and heritage leather sample key on Memorial Day weekend. They arrived yesterday, but I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of them until today.

The belts are 1964 Black, 1964 Brown Roughout, and 1964 Tan Roughout. For those wondering about sizing, my pants size is men’s 38, actual waist size measured by tailor’s tape is slightly under 40”, and the belts are size 42. They are supple but not flimsy. The belts were made on my dad’s birthday so that’s kind of special to me.

The leather sample key has been really helpful as I decide on the leather for my first pair of Nick’s.

Decided to test the waters by buying some belts while I figure out my boot size

I was thinking about buying a couple of belts, but the Memorial Day sale and the work belt bundle made it a little easier. The leather swatches will help me decide which of the leathers to go with as I have never seen any of the Predator, Shackleton, or Spokane leathers in the flesh.
