So where is everyone's BOTG adventure stories and pictures?

Looking for stories and pictures of your latest attempt and how you are feeling? Closer and eager to go back or disappointed and deflated to the point of giving up? Either way, I would like to hear some treasure tales.

Personally I have to build up some more vacation and funding to make it out again later this year. Also, raising my new puppy so she can come with. That in itself is a full time job.

I'm feeling confident still in my solve, just trying to narrow down the last steps. Time will tell.

Good luck, Chuck

A different perspective on the "bride"

I'm not a big Ai fan by any means, but I do find it interesting when you ask the "right" question. In this case I was contemplating the significance between a "bride" and "time".

Here's the response I got.

Can time be described as a "bride"?

Yes, time can absolutely be described as a "bride" when used as a literary device, philosophical metaphor, or poetic personification. While standard language uses "bride" to describe a woman about to be married, framing time as a bride evokes powerful imagery of anticipation, fleeting beauty, and an inevitable union with the future.

Poetic and Philosophical Themes

When writers or thinkers personify time as a bride, they generally lean into specific themes:

  • Anticipation and the Future: A bride represents a threshold—the transition between what was and what will be. Describing a specific moment or the upcoming year as a "bride" emphasizes eager anticipation, hope, and the mystery of what the union with that time will bring. [1, 2]
  • Fleeting Beauty: A bride at the altar represents a singular, highly specific, and unrepeatable moment of pure beauty. In literature, calling a passing moment a "bride" underscores its precious, beautiful, and temporary nature.
  • Inevitable Union: Just as a wedding ceremony legally and intimately binds two entities together, humanity is bound to the march of time. We "marry" each moment as it arrives, consuming it completely before moving to the next. [1]

Contextual Distinctions

Depending on the context, the word "bride" can shift dramatically across different fields:

  • In Literature: Authors use personification to give abstract concepts like time human characteristics. Calling time a "bride" gives it a sense of purity, freshness, and high importance. [1]
  • In Religious Contexts: It is worth noting that while time can be personified this way in poetry, religious texts like the Christian Bible use the "bride" metaphor differently. Scripture primarily uses the term "Bride of Christ" to allegorically describe the Church or the New Jerusalem—symbolizing a spiritual union with God rather than time itself.

So this goes back to the "can you find what lives in time"...

Perhaps we aren't looking for a typical "bride" so to speak.

And yes, the next question you are thinking is:

If time is the bride, could she have a foot of three?

Yes, she absolutely could have a "foot of three" in the context of poetry, creating a brilliant linguistic double entendre.

The Double Meaning

  • The Metric Meaning: In poetry, a "foot of three" refers to iambic trimeter, a poetic line containing exactly three iambic feet (six syllables total, following an unstressed-stressed pattern: da-DUM da-DUM da-DUM).
  • The Literal Meaning: A bride with a "foot of three" evokes surreal, mythological, or fairy-tale imagery of a creature with three feet, emphasizing the strange, non-human nature of time.

Here is an example of how you can structure this:

>The bride descends the stair, (3 feet / 6 syllables)
With three feet swift and light. (3 feet / 6 syllables)
She steps through mortal air, (3 feet / 6 syllables)
And vanishes in night. (3 feet / 6 syllables)

Why This Metaphor Works Perfectly

  1. The Steady Tick of Time: Iambic meter mimics a heartbeat or the steady ticking of a clock.
  2. The Tripod of Time: In philosophy, time is often divided into three parts: Past, Present, and Future. Giving your Bride of Time "three feet" perfectly symbolizes her ability to stand simultaneously in all three eras.
  3. The Uncanny Bride: A three-footed bride is beautiful yet unnatural, capturing how humans view time—both deeply familiar and strangely unstoppable. Here is an example of how you can structure this: The bride descends the stair, (3 feet / 6 syllables) With three feet swift and light. (3 feet / 6 syllables) She steps through mortal air, (3 feet / 6 syllables) And vanishes in night. (3 feet / 6 syllables) Why This Metaphor Works Perfectly The Steady Tick of Time: Iambic meter mimics a heartbeat or the steady ticking of a clock. The Tripod of Time: In philosophy, time is often divided into three parts: Past, Present, and Future. Giving your Bride of Time "three feet" perfectly symbolizes her ability to stand simultaneously in all three eras. The Uncanny Bride: A three-footed bride is beautiful yet unnatural, capturing how humans view time—both deeply familiar and strangely unstoppable

So hopefully this inspires you to think outside the "box" and dig a little deeper into your soul for the "right" answer.

If it wasn't hard enough already.

This question really blows my mind......

Q: For an optimal solve, does the poem need to be read or

rearranged in any way other than how it's represented on the

website and in the book?

A: I'm not going to rule that out.

Does that mean rearrange letters, order, words or all of the above?

So close, yet so far away, Chuck G4G^2

4th BOTG Trip Pictures to BHDL area

What a long journey again, with nearly 6000 miles total and 112 hours of driving time. The good news is that it was all worth it!

After arriving of course, I had a little setback with a flat tire in the middle of no-where land. I had driven across the country in 80 degree weather so I was wearing shorts and a short sleeve shirt when it happened. All my stuff still packed in the back of my topper and for some glorious reason my tailgate wouldn't open at the time, so I couldn't access all my gear.

Good thing I have thick blood as it was snowing and blowing at the time. Of course once I had it fixed it stopped snowing for this picture. The next day I had to drive down to Idaho Falls to get a new tire. A miracle that Sam's Club had my exact tire and was still under warranty.

Even my spare needed a little help with the air compressor.

The wildlife was abundant in all of God's Glory!

Here's our friend the wise old Great Gray Owl while it was snowing.

The largest owl in North America.

There were deer, antelope, and elk all over the place before Memorial Day (then all the people showed up and lots of them disappeared).

Mr. Buck saying hello

No trip is complete without a trip to the local museum.

Worth your time to check out.

A little snow left on the runs at Maverick Mountain

Maverick Mtn Ski runs

Moose on the loose.

Moose off the Pioneer Hwy

A little side trip over to Idaho to visit Sacajawea.

Oh Deer what can the matter be, the treasure is hiding so near.

Saw these deer almost everyday in the same spot.

Even the Chipmunks aren't scared of people. If only it could talk and tell me where JP hid his treasure.

Little friendly chipmunk liked its picture taken.

The sandhill cranes were putting on a show.

And all good BOTG's provide us with the real Gold.

The real treasure

Thanks for joining me on this adventure, Chuck

Anagram for "Kitchen Table"

In the e-book on page 293 of the Treasure Trail: "there's always this: a kitchen table". JP also describes the search area as the size of a kitchen. If we anagram the letters in kitchen table we get "Tackle Hint Be". Along the way to the checkpoint do we find some fishing tackle or is it just providing a hint that "pole and hole" are related to fishing?

My new motto...take note of the 42. It's very useful as is my definition.

Happy Mother's day to all the women!

A special day to give thanks to all the wonderful women on here and those that are in the back scenes supporting the men. Without your dedication, hard work, love, and support, none of this would be possible.

This goes out to all women, not just the mother's, but to every woman!

May you find peace and joy in this day, and may the treasure be right beside you along this journey. Kindest regards, Chuck (Gold 2 Good)

Did JP say you can see "her face" from the checkpoint or just not as far as people think?

I know we've discussed this topic before, but with each interview I feel my brain gets a little more muddy rather than more clear. So my question is: If I'm standing on the checkpoint can I see "her face"? OR when I return "her face" to retrieve the treasure is when we can literally see her face? Thanks, Gold 2 Good

https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/discussions/hpcdiscussions.php?disc=pmdspd

..A frontal system is expected to form in the Northern Plains and
Rockies, bringing increased precipitation chances to end the week...

A significant late-season winter storm is underway in the Rockies, with
heavy snowfall expected to continue through tonight. Chances of at least
minor impacts remain very high, at over 90%, per the latest Probabilistic
Winter Storm Severity Index (WSSI-P). Snowfall total accumulations in the
range of 4 to 10 inches are expected across much of the I-25 corridor,
while mountainous regions, including the northern Front Range and
foothills, could see as much as 24 to 30 inches. Snowfall is expected to
remain very wet, dense, and heavy, which could lead to tree and power line
damage. Beginning tonight, a widespread and hard freeze is expected as the
snowfall begins to wind down. Travel impacts are likely across much of the
area, especially in higher elevations where snowy and slushy roads are
possible. Additionally, exercise caution while shoveling; the wet, heavy
nature of the snow may increase the risk of overexertion and injury.

Be mindful of mother nature and try to always be prepared for the worst.

Changing seasons means changing conditions real fast. Follow JPs safety advice and remember that no treasure is worth anyone's life.

Right now you can get On-X Backcountry for 60% off. That's only $40 for the 1st year with the Elite package which shows you the private land boundaries. I don't work for them, but wish I did. I have the Elite Off road version and love it. Make sure before you head into the backcountry that you download the maps to your phone ahead of time for the area you are searching.

Your phone will pick up the satellite with no cell phone coverage and show you exactly where you are standing on the map. Super helpful.

I also have a Garmin Inreach and just turn it on for the month I'm going out. Better to be safe than sorry,

Good luck everyone, Gold 2 Good.
