Qolsys IQ 4 time woes

I attempted to do an upgrade on my old Johnson alarm system and I bought an IQ 4 brain, and a few remotepanels to arm and disarm the system around my house. My house was pre-wired for switches at the doors and motion sensors and I’ve gotten everything hooked up to the panel with new resistors and it seems to function pretty well.

Ie. when I open and close doorsthe panel the remote panels chime and the IQ installer shows the door opening and closing etc.

What I can't figure out is the time/date -- every night it resets back to Eastern standard time (I'm west coast) so all the clocks on each panel is off by four hours.

I open up the IQ Installer reset the time to the correct time and date and all the panels reflect the new time however overnight the panels all reset the time four hours ahead to East Coast time and when I wake up instead of it being my time it’s four hours ahead.

I also can’t integrate it with my Control4 system because I can’t set the six digit code in the IQ Installer because it tells me there’s a partition error -- even though all of the sensors are on one partition.

Any ideas?

Venmo business insanity

Just got off the phone with Venmo customer support and I can’t seem to find a resolution for this and customer support is absolutely unhelpful so I’m here maybe asking this Reddit to see if anybody has any solutions because Venmo doesn’t.

I can’t seem to accept any payments on my Venmo business account, and when I have customers use the QR code for my Venmo business account we consistently get an error message saying that this person cannot accept money at this time so I can’t accept money on my Venmo business account.

Venmo does not see any failed transaction so they don’t think there’s a problem and will not escalate it

Venmo also wants me to have my customer contact them to see why there’s the problem.

But I can’t have every single one of my customers contacting Venmo every single time a transaction fails which is 100% of the time.

My workaround has been to have my customers send the exact same money to my personal Venmo account and then I manually transfer the money from my personal account to my business account within Venmo.

This drives my accountant absolutely bat shit crazy.

100% of my customers can send money just fine to my Venmo personal account.

100% of my customers get the failed transaction trying to send money to my Venmo business account.

Venmo says my account is in good standing and that there’s no issue.

Does anybody have any idea what to try next??

Contractor installing fence posts on some concrete stairs - this doesn’t look right

Redwood 4x4s wrapped in roofing aluminum faced butyl and sunk into concrete. I don’t think that’s right as the butyl will hold moisture against wood leading to rot. What say you, redditor contractors??

How do you feel about the Senates Intelligence Authorization Bill?

Specifically Section 622, which refers to a highly debated provision in the U.S. Senate’s intelligence authorization bill (S. 4615) that would codify and mandate massive, ongoing intelligence sharing between the United States and Israel. [1, 2] links highlighted.

Isreal has routinely tried to steal United States intelligence over the last forty years.

https://www.csmonitor.com/layout/set/amphtml/1989/0522/e1green.html

This bill hands them the keys:

Key Elements of the Provision put forth by Tom Cotton:

Locking Cooperation into Law: The amendment—introduced by Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Sen. Tom Cotton—strips U.S. administrations of the flexibility to routinely scale back or suspend intelligence sharing with Israel. [1, 2]

Presidential Threshold: Under the text, intelligence-sharing cannot be reduced unless the president personally determines there is a "specific and identifiable national security concern". [1]

Broader Integration: The bill parallels portions of the annual defense budget (such as Section 224 in the House) that aim to integrate the two nations' militaries and defense tech sectors. [1, 2, 3, 4]

277v lights

Question for you commercial Electricians. I need to add a dimmer switch to my office lights in my shared office. I got a deal so management isn't going to do the wiring, so I want to know what needs to happen if I call someone to do the wiring or can I add a switch easily if there's conduit and an outlet box in my office (but the conduit and box is empty)

It's a drop ceiling and the j boxes up there all say 277v

And this is the "ballast" on the light fixture. Can I just run a commercial low voltage switch to the light? Rather than trying to run a leg to the switch which turns the light on an off?

Obviously I need to separate the 277v and the low voltage but how is that done In a commercial building? Separate conduit?
