Finances during study?

Hi! I’m due to start my pre-reg MSc in January and I was just wondering how people managed their finances throughout their studies. For context, I work full time as a data manager which pays ok but I will definitely take a hit to how much money I will have even with student finance and the NHS learning support fund, so I was wondering how people managed or what kind of jobs people took up as I assume not many places will be happy to only have you as part time or not at all during placement weeks.

I guess I also just wanted advice on whether working is recommended at all during the masters as I know it’s quite full on so I’m trying to decide if I will look for something or attempt to be extra frugal 😅

Sometimes I get this deep seated sadness and I’m not sure why

Sometimes, but mostly right after a nice time out or a fun day, I get this really heavy, all consuming sadness in my chest. Like today, I took my nephew out and we had a great time and I love him like he’s my son honestly, but then I got to thinking about holding him for the first time and how quickly time is going by and I started to feel physically upset. Genuinely felt I had been shot in the chest.

Then, I was speaking to a friend about university and the summer before we left which was truly one of the most memorable times of my life - it was me and my two best friends at the time living together in Brighton just after Covid restrictions began to lift. I started thinking about my first year (which is when me and this friend met) and how big the world felt and how I wish I could a) hug that version of myself and tell her to just be in the moment b) feel that invincible and carefree again. I felt the sadness again but managed to distract myself until I got to thinking about my family and how we are all aging and specifically my mother and how much I miss her (mind you I was with her yesterday) and my siblings and how is love to just live altogether in one house again.

I wish time would just stop for a second. Or alternatively, that I was able to reminisce without nostalgia bringing me to tears each time. If anyone has any suggestions of any kind, please do not hesitate because I’m tired of missing people and things even though they’re essentially right in front of me.

Securing Band 5 role with only accredited degree?

Hi, sorry if this has been asked before, just weighing out my options here. Is it possible to apply directly to Band 5 BMS roles with only an accredited undergraduate/masters degree? And if so, has anyone actually managed to get a role?

Just wondering because whilst this is being said to be an option online, I believe labs would just hire a HCPC-registered BMS, but if it’s ever been done before I’d love to know! Thanks in advance ❤️
