Hi everyone,
I’m an international student living in Innsbruck, and I really need some advice because this situation is affecting my mental health.
I started renting a room in April, and my contract is until the end of August. A few weeks ago, I found another place to live, so I informed my landlord about 1.5 months in advance that I wanted to move out at the end of July.
She told me that I still have to pay the rent for August. I’m not sure what the law says, and if that’s legally required, I want to understand my obligations.
What is really upsetting me are the threats. She keeps telling me she’ll contact the visa office, call the police, and take legal action against me. As an international student who works part-time to support myself, these statements have caused me a lot of stress and anxiety.
I don’t know Austrian tenancy laws, and I’m worried because I don’t want to do anything wrong. Can a landlord actually report a tenant to immigration over a rental dispute? Can the police get involved in a situation like this?
If anyone has experience with Austrian rental law or knows where I can get free legal advice in Innsbruck, I’d really appreciate your help.

I’m getting tired of taking screenshots and then manually opening them, extracting the text, and copying it to my clipboard.
Is there any tool or workflow that can do this automatically? Ideally, I’d like to:
Press my screenshot shortcut.
Have OCR run automatically.
The detected text is instantly copied to my clipboard, ready to paste.
I’m using macOS, but I’m also interested in Windows/Linux solutions if they’re good.
