Wyoming Flag Redesign for Flag Friday

Wyoming Flag Redesign for Flag Friday

I just got rid of the seal. It's a well-known fact that the only change needed for this flag is to remove the seal. I posted this early so none of you guys can, HA HA!!! To be fair, I will submit another flag with an original design. I think you guys will like it! ;)

Flag Friday Submission for Idaho: “Verdant Apex”

I’ve decided that I need to switch up my game again. From now on, my submission posts will include presentations describing the flag. This seems like something late to do, but better late than never. Also it’s kind of tiring to just type all of the information in the body text.

Flag Friday Submission for Washington: “Cascading Crest”

I really thought that I would win Montana’s contest, and I was… close! At least. But now for Washington, I have just as high hopes for this one.

This flag consists of a green background with 3 white stars above 4 alternating white-and-blue waves. In case you haven’t figured out already, the design is based on George Washington’s coat of arms, because of the white three stars on top, and two white lines at the bottom, just colored differently. The green is taken from the original flag, because thats the one thing that helps it stand out from the other bedsheet flags. The blue waves represent the importance of the ocean to this state. I think that this flag is very representative of the state it’s for, which is why is would serve as a great flag for Washington.

Carson City might have the worst flag of any U.S. capital city. Yes, much worse than Montgomery's. So I fixed it. The stripe design had some potential, so I decided to keep it, but I made it darker for better contrast. I replaced the overstimulating seal with a simple silver star, because it's the capital of the Silver State, Nevada.

I decided… that maybe I should make a new flag for Montana. It was harsh of me to get rid of my last old flag(Except for NC and VT). But it’s probably for the best anyway. Still, I kept it pretty similar in terms of layout.

This new flag I made has a blue background, with 2 mountain peaks and 2 ONLY(no smaller ones in the back). Except that the peaks are gold and the silver is only the outline of the mountain(separated by a blue gap). Slightly above the center is a silver bull skull with a sun design stamped onto its forehead. Now for the symbolism, the gold and silver are derived from the state motto, and the mountain design is derived the name origin of the state. The blue represents the nickname “Big Sky Country”, and the bull skull is often associated with the state.

I made this flag over a year and a half ago, making it one of my only old flags that I never got rid of. Anyways, y’know how “Montana” is Spanish for “Mountain”? Well, I made this flag a simple illustration of a mountain range. In the front are two big mountains with white outlines and one star in each. In the back are three smaller mountains, that lack white outlines and stars. The colors are derived from the state motto; “Oro y Plata”, which is spanish for “Gold and Silver”. So, I made the sky gold and the mountains silver. I made this flag especially to be very representative of Montana, which is why it would be a great flag for the state.

As I said last week, this flag was made to be closely identical to North Dakota’s flag. So it is. Not much to explain here since symbolism is almost the same, so I’ll just name the differences. Instead of a green background, a blue background. Instead of a white star, a yellow star. And instead of a bison, an eagle. And it’s also yellow instead of white. I changed the colors to match the ones on the current flag, like the background and every yellow symbol. Except for the thin stripe above the yellow bar, because that would just be yellow on yellow.

Over a month ago, I made a showcase of U.S. state flags in the style of Japanese prefecture flags. Most people liked them, but some people gave me feedback on how to make them even better. Most of them are still the same, but others have been changed, with changes ranging from minor color tweaks to complete overhauls. I’ll tell you which ones I have changed since then.

UNCHANGED(Lv. 0 change): Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Montana, Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico, Missouri, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Illinois, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts, and Vermont.

MINOR COLOR CHANGES(Lv. 1 change): Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Arkansas, Tennessee, Indiana, Minnesota, New York, and Rhode Island.

MINOR DESIGN CHANGES(Lv. 2 change):

California: Flipped the bear head to face the hoist side.

Utah: Rotated the beehive so that the side walls are vertical.

Louisiana: Flipped the pelican-de-lis to face the hoist side, and adjusted the background color a bit.

Kentucky: Flipped the horse head to face the hoist side, and adjusted the colors a little.

Ohio: Changed the colors to match the current flag, and enlarged the “O” a bit.

MAJOR DESIGN CHANGES(Lv. 3 change)

Oregon: Replaced the snowflake with a beaver, but the colors are still the same.

North Dakota: Replaced the fleur-de-lis with a Thunderbird, an important symbol of Native Americans.

Connecticut: My own design, original was made by someone else. I replaced the 3 grape vines with a singular, more simple cluster of grapes.

COMPLETE OVERHAULS(Lv. 4 change)

Oklahoma: A blue background(same shade of blue as that on the current flag)with an Osage warrior’s shield. The 8 feathers hanging off the bottom are now hanging off from different edges of the shield in pairs.

Iowa: Changed the colors a bit and replaced the flower with a wheat sprig.

Mississippi: My own design, original was made by someone else. It has a blue background with a golden magnolia silhouette.

West Virginia: Has a blue background with an 8-pointed alternating green-and-yellow star.

Michigan: Still the same concept, but overall different graphics and colors.

Wisconsin: My own design original was made by someone else. It has a blue background and a golden badger silhouette.

New Hampshire: Has a red background with a golden 3-pointed crown in the center. Based on the flag of Hampshire, England.

Other changes(Lv. x change)

Maryland: didn’t replace the old one, but added a new one based on the Calvert banner.

Which one is your favorite? Are the improvements good? Should I change then back? Tell me in the comments.
