As in my previous post, I got DNA results, they don't match who I thought was my grandpa. I have matches to 1st cousins, 2nd cousins, etc. Is there a service that can be used to help find out how everyone is connected? I don't know if the guy I think it is, is who it might be.

Hey all. Did my first DNA test with Ancestry and just like a lifetime movie...no connections to my grandpa. Honestly, kind of figured that would happen but gave me a connection to a new 2nd cousin. After days of digging and trying to figure out our connection. If she is my 2nd cousin like it says we would share great grand parents. Well, her GG parents are EJ and I. So I break down E and I's kids. There are 4. E, EJ, EL and M. I know that one of their kids will have to be my grandpa. So I break down all of their kids. E has 1 son. EJ has 1 son. EL has 1 son. M has two sons. Well my mom was conceived in 1966 in the Philippines. So I know I need someone who served time in the military and was there during 1966. It can't be EJ's son because my closest match is his grand daughter as my second cousin and her son as my 1st cousin 2xs removed. ELs son is RC, no one with that same last name comes up in my DNA, which doesn't mean he isn't grandpa but I'm thinking chances are slim. (still researching if he was military) and M, 1 son was 15 at the time my mom was conceived but R is in the age range. So I decided to google R. His obituary comes up. He passed in 2019, but in the obituary says he was in the Navy from 1964 to 1967 and fought in the Vietnam War. My heart stopped. Ships from the Navy would port in the Philippines frequently during that time. So plug this information into my ancestry tree. Now of course RC still could be the grandpa but a lot of signs are pointing to R. So I go to work today kind of excited that I might have pieced this together and one of my coworkers says she is very into genealogy and to give her the run down. So I tell her who/what I have found and she tells me that without my grandmothers DNA to do a complete DNA profile there is no way to tell if the cousin I found it actually my cousin from my grandfathers right? HUH? Is there a way for that to get cross wired? Can DNA results from Ancestry be trusted? Now I am all kinds of confused. My mom has passed away and her mom, who I barely speak to isn't being forthcoming with information so I am kind of just...stuck at the moment.
