So close, yet so far...

Had this shell for a while decided for a periwinkle I'd shoot tamiya anodized blue then corsa gray then silver then black. Color came out great but I should have wiped the dried dust or blown it out as dried metallic settled into the second color and it looks 'dusty'. It's a notorious paint to use as it is.

Went ahead and finished printed details and window trim and panel lines so it's a done thing. Probably about $80 in paint. In reality one run in dust and you'd never notice

Was playing around with my Knight Customs account

I don't have a 79 bronco but have a commercial account. Figured I'd give printed in color dash a shot. Although I went with pla+ for the black parts for strength but through trx4 windows you can't tell. May need to try this onore interiors. Thought t was kewl, I love porno red interiors...

Unfortunately they don't have any bits for my own 5 trx4s except the defender detail pack.

Scorpion post #2003 I wouldn't put these on a mountain bike

Had the double failure creeping into a pothole in a parking lot. One blistered and the other split on removal. And that's a blister into the(supposed) curb protector! 4600 miles. The sidewalls are impossibly flexible and no glass fiber or steel, you can run your finger right through the split. Look at how much flex poking it with your finger or just bending it with your thumb, it's outright scary, have never seen anything like it and not to lend anything with my handle I've done some pretty extreme things deep into triple digits with tires and tire failures.

I'd expect more from a $35 special 30 years ago.

Only did 50 miles on the new shoes but will report back after a 2k mile trip this week. The Goodyear comforts already feel like I went down 2" in wheel diameter and the crashy suspension feel is pretty much gone. The Pirellis sounded like a skateboard next to these too. Can't explain the immediate increase in road confidence.

And I just added a spare, I would have still missed a cruise launch or sporting event if this happened somewhere not around home. If not worse at speed, cripes.

But holy shit these scorpions suck.

Heck hobby lobby filament ain't bad...

Figured I'd grab a matte black just to see if this stuff would help me tolerate HL trips. Out of the pack straight in the ams and generic pla settings with just plate temp adjustments. Straight into a 26 hour print at .12 for the master build U2 spy plane to see what happens, about 300g straight up black.I must say zero issues zero stringing zero voids, just did the deed. Now I can go stand in that corner of the store and just stare at the 15 variations for 25 minutes until it's over on the weekly trip...

Actually did better than the overture red and sunlu gold on the few multicolor parts. I'd tweak the print a little if it wasn't just a test and print the canopy vertical, I didn't even tweak any fitment or anything, just pulling the wings and putting in the donation bin. I didn't think it'd be an option. I must say I'd be hard pressed to not use it for a project. No apologies.

I got a roll of PLA+ white to give a whirl too. Can't spot any hint to the maker, usually can get an idea by the spools, how it's spooled or terminated, heck sometimes the smell.

The printable key fob on etsy

There is an interesting option for the key fob, a 3d printable one... I'm still goofing with settings and effective color/sheen/plate type/types of filament.

-Is it smaller? Yes

-Does it work? Yes

-Can you figure out orientation in a pocket? Yes

-Does it hold the backup key? Yes

-Does it feel cheap? Yes, I expect to hear 'viper armed' when I push a button, or it's the free remote for your daughter's dancing jellyfish light...

-Is it waterproof, not a chance.

I do like it better for the primary day to day pocket use. You're not whipping this out like Paul Allen's business card. Considering I hardly interact with the physical fob it's an interesting solution...

Files and model are excellent but do take a bit of care and knowledge. It's definitely not maker world print from the phone handy app. I'm cranking settings way down(higher) from the std .2mm and it's not getting much prettier, so it's more of a keep it simple stupid way to go.

Are we not talking about the new TRX4 pickups??

https://traxxas.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=92144%2B92154

13.2" Pickups with Sport drivelines and full fenders and body goodies. Seems like a great split the difference version with some new bodies and on stock height tires! Have avoided the pickups because of being high trails that need conversions, this looks like a great option mixing things up. AND CLEAR WINDOWS!

Everything must go! New TRX4 'kit'

I had this rock bouncer stripper rig that I loved but got bored over the long winter and turned it back into a scale rig. I kept all the bits and 120 HT shocks(still on the brackets/keys), just needed a new TRX kit. It was a dead honest rig 1080 triple five brushed with drag on the fly.

I realized I was going into summer without a loaner/trainer/beater. Just needed a chassis, print up an lcg tray, steering servo and another set of skid plates.

So three hours later fully stripped and put back together. Just need to clean up the spaghetti and eBay the spares. Wah lah.

Finally got this one out around the yard to do some basic shock and esc program checks done. Portal delete Defender with 1200 fusion, still can't slow it down enough in top gear with overdrives and a 9T, but it sure looks like the real deal going slow. A few more tweaks and widgets and I can get this sucker good and filthy.

I have been tinkering with this on and off for some time not really sure to do with a prerunner bodied crawler. I went with with prerunner bodied prerunner.

-IFS2 front end with just the cut stub axles from spares(2wd no pumpkin)

-32kg agfrc steering servo, probably the best $50 servo ever

-HW fusion 2300, a couple extra pinion teeth

-TF high clearance links

-Full set of knight customs prints, full printed in color interior and radiator, magnet mounts, inner fenders, etc. some other printed bits...

-fresh body set with sor Ivan decals

-SOR printed TPU ifs side fillers

it's quite scale peppy and the foc lets you run scale speeds for gentile slides, it's not an arrma granite. a hoot on the smooth floors for slow speed hooning. need to do some basic jump tests in the basement first to check balance and should be good to get dirty.

if the rear axle gives me grief I'll put in a Treal scx10 housing with quality bits(only needs one fancy axle after all). and it may need a brass bumper mount on the back, seems decently balanced but will find out soon enough.

On to the next layer

Well, to not bleed light or color it got a can and a half of silver, a can of white and a layer of black inside. Outside it got the bed with ps5 black then some ts6 matte black. All survived no bleed lines, good to go. Figure at this point it's worth proper SOR TRD decals and a few other bits. Since this is the adv kit the fenders are body color, just needs panel lines
