Box or complete set?

I currently have no local scene or player for this game. I have only bought starter decks and played against myself (and against a family member once). I recently learned about Twin Suns and picked up the decks as I got some family members in to Magic Commander and I am sure they would like this for when I travel and visit them. I have been obsessed with how this game plays (been playing TCGs for 27 years) and am a light SW fan.

Anyway, I want to make my own decks as I prefer keeping precons as precons. I saw a full single set of cards is just over $100 and learned today a whole box goes for under $100. I am floored at the price and want to get a box of each set. But then I reached a dilemma.

I prefer formats like Twin Suns (commander) because it is singleton. I collect playsets in Lorcana, and noticed two boxes get me a playset (4 cards) of all the commons and uncommons, and some rares. A playset in SWU is three. So how many boxes would it take to get a playset of commons and uncommons? I plan on approaching this casually, so I am also leaning towards just buying a full set (not playset) of the expansions. I could then just snag a cheap bulk bundle afterwards, but I much prefer opening my own stuff and enjoy playing what I randomly received.

TL;DR: Does a booster box give a playset of commons? A playset of uncommons? If not, then how many boxes? After that, what would be the cost to finish the set (for missing singles, not a full playset)?

Thank you.

Knew it was a lucky box!

Opened my case to find one box facing backwards. In the image of pulls is a hit for each column. I opened all versions of Leviathan three packs in a row. I wish I recorded it, but I stopped recording my openings as I have yet to bother uploading them.

Noob question on showdowns

Trying to learn the game. Watched some YouTube videos but I feel lost on this. Say my opponent has multiple units on a battlefield. How do I take it over when I am sending one unit there at a time? Say they have a really big one with Shield. Damage heals after each combat. What would I do?

Also, if an unit has damage from a noncombat showdown, and survives an attack, do they now heal all damage?

Thank you.
