Are Incandescents Still Worth It?

I’ve been very much focusing on incandescents lately, as I heard their color rendering is still better than LEDs. Then I found an article that claimed that the difference is negligible. That said, I’ve seen side by sides of tungsten and LED’s effects on skin tones, and I was frankly able to notice the difference. Am I just abnormal, or is there really a noticeable difference?

How to Scrim a Practical?

I’ve been on a multi-week long journey to come up with an idea of industry standard practical lighting. Some of you who post here often might have noticed. In the process I realized that 75w bulbs at least were standard almost, however I have also learned that on modern digital sensors these have a tendency to blow out. If I put it on a dimmer, I would run the risk of turning the scene incredibly orange. I heard that scrimming can help, perhaps with a wire scrim. However, I don’t know how one would put a scrim on a bulb that is in a lampshade. Does it require multiple scrims? Are there scrims built just for this purpose? Will the inside of the lamp still be visible.

Hi everyone. I’ve heard about how a-curves can help with getting rid of that washed out look that we often end up with. However, I’ve recently come across an article that I don’t fully understand, which talks about how s-curves are actually bad.

Pardon the writing in the article. The website and article both exude the energy of someone who thinks a lot of the fact that they are speaking out against something so popular.

So, are s-curves useless?

I like industry standards. They make me feel like I’m doing something right.

Anyway, I was wondering what the industry standards bulbs are for tungsten practicals. I’ve heard a lot of talk about PH/211, 212 and 213 bulbs. However, those are all 75w and above from what I’ve seen, and I’ve heard that 75w and above clip easier on digital sensors. I don’t necessarily want to dim it, because then the color temperature shifts to orange, and I don’t want all my scenes to be orange. It feels very A24/modern indie, and I‘m thinking about a more 90s/early 2000s studio-backed look.

Hey guys. It’s been a pretty long time since I’ve been on this sub. Anyway, I’ve been having some struggles recently. I was remembering back to my philosophy class, we read some Plantinga (particularly the evolutionart argument against naturalism, but this is not about that). Anyways, I recall his logic was a lot better than I was expecting, though it didn’t bring me to Christianity. It’s got me thinking about his other famous argument, the free will argument. I’ve never read the whole book, and I don’t know if I know anyone who has. If anyone happens to have read it, I’d like to know if he approaches it from the perspective that the world we are living in is the best possible world, and if so, why? Thanks.
