Heaves and moving forward
Horse friends, I just want to ask anyone who has had experience with Heaves(RAO, Equine Asthma) what that was like? Treatment options, quality of life, when did you think it was "time", how old when they did pass, and were you ever able to regularly work/ride again?
Unfortunately this is a battle that Ketel and I will be fighting. As of now its mild, minor coughing with with mild breathing difficulties, but I know it won't be like this forever. I'll state the obvious, but vet will be involved soon.

You can hear my sigh once I realize he's still lame 😭
No advice needed, working with my vet, he's having an anaplasmosis and lymes flare up, happens every spring since 2022.
So nice having recall though, its so humid today 🤣

Appreciation of my old boy
Tucker is 25, he has anaplasmosis and lymes, his flare-ups, luckily, are mild and he moves "slightly off". Today I gave his first round of meds and because im always alone; I did this alone as well with no where to tie.
The shot is very thick and needs to be pushed slowly.
I use to take this for granted but I'm so glad that this winter I got a 15yr old unhandled horse and its really making me appreciate all the things I can do with him and it doesn't even cross my mind that it may be an issue in normal circumstances!
Also yes I am fat but I have heaps of crap in my pocket too! LOL!

Ladies and Gentlemen, how the heck do I grow and maintain a mane? I've only had appaloosas with no manes and tails, so this is new to me!
Her mane use to hang half on one side and half on the other, when I corrected it the underneath of the part I corrected fell out(that didn't really shock me) but now its grossly uneven and has never been very long to begin with. Thank you in advance!
