Is there any basis for taking legal action against Evri?

I don't mean by individual customers. I mean, is there any legal framework under which EVRI could be taken to court for its systemic failures?

Maybe fraudulent communications, failure to prevent theft of items, failure to provide the advertised service...?

B&Q carnivorous plant in soil?

Purchased a couple of pitcher plants from the reduced section in B&Q (they look pretty good - not sure if they were discounted by mistake, but I wasn't going to pass up the bargain!)

I have little experience growing carnivorous plants, but know they require distilled water and a nutrient free growing medium - yet they came in pots with what looks like ordinary soil**.** Is that typical? Do they really sell them in an unsuitable regular soil?!

My inclination is to repot into sphagnum moss and perlite, but just wanted to double check, in case I was missing something and it wasn't absolutely necessary right away.

Would this subreddit benefit from a pinned post with answers to the most common questions? If so, what would you include?

I notice the same types of questions cropping up over and over again. I think it would be helpful if the subreddit had a pinned post with answers to the most frequently asked questions.

Below are the sorts of things I would include. What other frequent queries & common sense answers would you add?

- How often should I change my bed linen/towels/clothes? How often should I shower / wash my hair? There is no 'correct' frequency for changing your bed linen/towels, showering, and washing your hair. They will depend on your own particular body chemistry, climate and lifestyle. As a general guide, most people shower daily, change towels at least weekly, and change bed linens every 2-3 weeks.

- My partner has poor hygiene, what should I do? Have an honest and non-judgemental conversation with them about your concerns and the effect their hygiene is having on you. Explain how you think they could improve their hygiene. Incentivise change by taking a positive, proactive approach and offering products and advice to help them change their routine. Reinforce positive change with praise. Restate ongoing concerns if the issue persists. If they refuse to make meaningful changes, consider whether they are the right person to be in a relationship with.

- What can I do about my sweaty feet? Alternate pairs of shoes and let them dry out between uses; consider switching to socks made of natural fibres; change your socks during the day; use a medicated soap to treat any fungal or bacterial issues; address underlying anxiety leading to hyperhidrosis.

- What can I do about bad breath: floss and brush teeth twice a day; use a tongue scraper; chew sugar-free gum after meals; review your diet to identify any foods that may be contributing to the issue; research tonsil stones if you think they might be a potential cause.

- Should I (or my partner) be washing butt/genitals/feet/legs in the shower...? Yes.

Midsummer Night's Dream @ Regents Park Open Air Theatre 👎

Having never had the pleasure of the Regents Park Open Air Theatre, I was so excited to visit this week. And what better play to see in the lush warmth of a summer's evening than A Midsummer Night's Dream - a play all about escaping the confines of city life to revel in the heady beauty of the outdoors.

And, in truth, the setting was sublime. Birds and butterflies swooped over our heads as the sun made its lazy way towards the horizon, dipping behind the treetops.

And in that gorgeous setting, I saw what ranks as one of the worst theatrical productions I've ever endured.

Who in their right mind thought that the best way to utilise this idyllic setting was to plonk down a massive, bare, boxy series of wooden platforms obscuring almost all of the surrounding greenery with a badly painted backcloth worthy of a church hall production? The whole edifice looked like an IKEA knock-off of Jamie Lloyd's Evita stage from last year.

Costuming was a mess. I've seen my fair share of modernised and stylised Shakespeares. But there was zero consistency or coherence to any of the costumes - many of which looked like they could have been purchased at a car boot sale.

Acting was woeful, lacking any clear direction, thoughtful blocking or stage presence. Characters mooched, or sprinted maniacally, or lolled about on the various levels of the stage, looking lost and tiny against the expanse of bare wood. A fair amount of faffing about took place in a recessed box on the top level which made it even harder to see what was going on and put even more distance between the audience and the action.

For a comedy, I could count on one hand how many laughs were elicited from the audience. A few instances of breaking the fourth wall raised a chuckle, but it was meagre pickings. The funniest moments came from Bottom (unsurprisingly). But being played by a hearing impaired actor whose speech made it hard to make out many of his lines many of the play's funniest beats were lost. He used sign language to underscore his words, and perplexingly so too did a random assortment of other characters - sometimes, but without any obvious consistency or purpose. The hand gestures were equally difficult to make out from a distance. The indie rock styled musical interludes dragged on far too long and added little to the play's impact or levity.

It was hard to tell apart the royal characters from the fairy characters from the mechanicals, because almost all were portrayed with an uneven, lacklustre energy. No sense of majesty, or fury, or chaos, or whimsy. A woman sitting near me was completely perplexed as to what was going on, and had to rely on her friend to clarify who was who and what was happening. A lot of other people in the audience looked bored.

I've often thought it impossible to get AMSND wrong - it's such a fun and accessible comedy. This production proved me wrong.

Having seen far superior plays this week (Arcadia, oh my goodness❤️!) often for half the price, I feel somewhat ripped off by this production.

I'd love to hear from someone who felt differently about it, to tell me what I'm missing. Though given the steady stream of people who left at the interval, I don't think I was alone in my disappointment.

Should have gone to the Globe instead.

Where's the best place to find a comprehensive list of all current London shows? (not just West End)

Planning a trip in a couple of weeks and have always used the big London ticket sites when planning theatre visits, but I'm aware that these don't include all the smaller theatres and productions that are not major West End big hitters, or West-End adjacent.

Where's the best place to see at-a-glance all the current plays/musicals across London?
