Aloha from Maui!
Went to the largest plumeria nursery on island looking for one for our yard and left with quite a few samples. we think we like the ones in the middle the best.
Any thoughts?

I saw this in Fiji and it became one of my favorites, but didn’t know how to get it on Maui…
Well, This morning on our walk around the neighborhood I saw a 15’ bush with these unique red flowers…. Come to find It’s Schizopetalus! And less than 500’ from my house!!
Needless to say I’ll be proplifting a branch or two (or ten) as grafts and starters. 😍🤩
We call this one Rare Bloom. Because it does exactly that. We’re lucky to see this plant flower once a month.
Both these images are the exact same flower bud, the first picture taken in the morning, and the other about eight hours later after a day full of sun and a bit of rain.
So amazing how these flowers can change in the course of one bloom
Traveling in Fiji, I keep seeing these and I love them. I would like to try and get some for my garden when I’m back in the states, but I need to know what it’s called.
Thanks in advance!
Mahalo.
Hello, I am staying on Veti Levu and these birds have been outside my hotel room. I’m just curious what they are, thanks in advance!
These are the varieties available at my favorite local nursery.
Just sharing this so people can have a readily available way to identify some variants.
These are not my pictures. They belong to my local nursery in Maui called Natireworks nursery in Haiku.
At least that’s what my wife is calling it.
Headed to Fiji in about a month. I have time to order another board before I go.
I know it’s too early to predict to swell, but my current quiver is:
6’0 short board, thruster
6’6 stepup, 5fin
7’2, single fin
8’5, mini-gun quad
I plan to bring 4 boards, My question for you that have been to Fiji when it’s pumping, what board should I get? My thoughts would be something in the 70 to 76 range to replace the single fin, but I also am also considering another 6’3- 6’6 step up in case the one breaks on a medium size day…
Im an above average surfer who’s lived is Hawai’i for 10 years and am comfortable up to about double overhead. Hence the 8’5.
Thanks kooks.
For whatever reason, these hibiscus seem to bloom less often than the rest, but they synced up and bloomed together this morning.
Took a grafting class a few weeks ago, so I snipped a bud off this local Hibiscus to try and put the skills to use by grafting it onto one of mine at home.
Any recommendations on a name?
