Nick's Mums

I see a lot of posts about Nick's Mum not being as good as Olivia. I thought Anna Maxwell had done a great job. Both actresses did. While rewatching the movie over, I realized that we should celebrate and feel good about a character whose Mum is OK with her son having a relationship with another boy. And how supportive Alice made her. Not only that, the inspiration she gave Nick not to give up on Charlie and how she noticed how Charlie really loved Nick, and loved the real Nick. Alice could have written her off like she didn't care about her sons relationship. She could have said the line that Olivia Coleman addressed in season 1 when Nick was deciding to go out with Imogen or go to Charles party and said don't worry, the right girl will come around just you wait. I'm still amazed how the parents are so comfortable with who their kids are dating. And they don't make a big deal about it. They normalize it. And glad families can watch this for years and see that who they are doesn't have to be scary. That sometimes your parents can support you.

Olivia Colemans new movie

Has anyone seen the new trailer for Wicker starring Olivia Coleman? Looks really good and funny. And shows what a great actress she is. We were lucky to get her as Nick's Mum in Heartstopper.

If not by fate

I saw an interview of Kizzy Edgell, the actor that plays Darcy talking about how he came close to not leaving to go for the audition for Heartstopper. He thought it would be a waste of time. But he decided to go. Which made me think about how we make choices everyday that determine the outcome of our future that we really don't pay attention to. What if Ben had been in the library that morning when Charlie was heading to school after the Christmas break. Charlie would have been happy seeing Ben again that he might not have paid as much attention to Nick that day. Or if the teacher had put Nick and Charlie in a different seating order. Nick was always Bi, but it would have took him longer. Maybe until Uni to figure that out. Charlie's ED might have showed it's self and Charlie's fate would have been worse without Nick around. Toa and Elle might not have got together with Charlie still available to do things with at the bowling alley since Nick wasn't around. Imogen and Nick might have got together just for convenience, but we all know it wouldn't have lasted, or would it? Imogen would not have reconnected with Sahar again if it wasn't for the friend group. I know this is silly, but things that I think about while watching the show. What are other examples that could have altered someone's future, and what way would it have played out if it had changed?

What does this mean in Britain

  1. How do schools decide who goes in what forms. Why were Toa and Isaac not in forms with Charlie? Do they go alphabetically or draw from a hat?

  2. When Nick is getting drunk, he tells this girl he was in drama with her. Is this the same as getting in front of the school putting on plays, or is this something else? Because I don't remember reading about Nick being in drama, like wanting to be an actor type of class in the Heartstopper world. It didn't seem like something his character being in rugby would do. Or is drama something else entirely in Britain?

July is for Heartstopper

Here we are finally in the month of July. We've been waiting for months and weeks. And now, just two weeks away, what are you hoping and looking forward to in the final journey. I think in the trailor, Toa gave us a clue that it's not as sad as you think. Maybe a hint that our two favorite couple will have a happy forever after.

A Tell All Book

I've often wondered if maybe one day, one or several of the cast members will come out with a tell-all book. Would love to know what went on behind the scenes of Heartstopper. Did cast members hook up? What kind of games did they play, and what went on at Hotel they were staying a? Places they went to eat. Did Joe get angry at Kit and slap him over his coffee drinking? Out of all the cast, I think Sebastian would be the first to write a book. Just made me think of this when I heard Bradley Riches came out with a book. He played James, who wrote about being Autistic. Who do you think should write a book, and what should they write about? There are no wrong answers.
