What are the most wasted characters in Dragon Ball?

I'll start with Goten and Trunks.

Despite being portrayed as incredibly promising, they've become almost irrelevant outside of fusion. Even in their own arc, they were overshadowed by Gohan, as well as the return of Goku and Vegeta. Since Dragon Ball Super, they haven't had any major accomplishments or meaningful development, despite originally being presented as the next generation of warriors.

They had all the potential in the world, but Dragon Ball Super and GT never really did anything with it.

Which Monsters Have Really Aged Poorly?

Let me start with Velocidrome, Velociprey, and their variants.

I get what they were going for: Velocidrome is supposed to be an easy monster, giving beginners a relatively safe introduction to Monster Hunter. But in my opinion, it fails at teaching the fundamentals of the game. Most of its attacks feel extremely similar, so there isn't much to learn from fighting it beyond simply hitting it until it dies. And to make things worse, its variants basically just add one extra attack instead of offering a more meaningful evolution of the fight.

Then there's the progression in Monster Hunter Freedom. Going from Velocidrome straight to Yian Kut-Ku feels like way too big of a difficulty jump. The player goes from fighting a monster that barely teaches them anything to one that suddenly demands much better positioning, timing, and awareness.

I think, Seltas, Great Macao and Great Jaggi are much better examples of beginner monsters. They actually do a better job of teaching the basics of Monster Hunter while still being simple to fight. Their smaller versions are also much less annoying than Velociprey and its variants.

So yeah, Velocidrome might have been fine for its time, but compared to more modern beginner monsters, I think it has aged pretty badly.
