It's taken me 5 months to get this far...

Almost 5 months to the day since we said hello to Albert, and finally makes it to 1000 miles.

And that includes two family visits with a round trip of 180 miles each, driving him from the dealership in Wales home to Wiltshire, and doing someone a 100 mile favour. All that accounts for roughly half his total miles. So day-to-day running is about 100 miles per month.

Hi all.

Thank you for setting this subreddit up. Now I can spell tyre with a Y and add a U to colour without feeling self conscious.

As much as I love the other group (which I do) it's nice to have a UK one too.

I'm loving seeing all your car photos in here, and am quite jealous of a few of them. They all have something lovable about them, don't they?

I've had 3 MINIs in a row.

Toby, a laser blue 2009 Cooper S (yes, the dreaded year with the dreaded Prince engine)

Walter, a pepper white 2017 Cooper SD.

And now, Albert, my 2026 Electric Countryman SE All4 Sport.

What would cause this blemish?

Hi all,

We recently had hail damage repaired via insurance after a major storm.

When the car first came back it was covered in micro scratches and swirls, plus some larger "careless cleaning scratches" in multiple locations that weren't there before.

They took it back in and removed the swirls and scratches, and the car was returned this morning.

However, in the sunlight we've noticed these dull/flat patches - mainly in the same location of the larger scratches.

It's not dirt, residue, or polish (I touched it gently with a micro fiber cloth to check) and seems to be like some kind of flat spot in the paint.

We need to get back to the insurance company but are not sure how to describe this damage.

How would we describe it, and what would the remedy be?

This is the largest of three patches.

Anyone herr added a Trailer hitch to their Mini SE?

I need a car and I am almost sold on a Mini Cooper SE.
I absolutely loved it during test drives.
The only things stopping me are the missing option for an openable sunroof (like the non-electric Mini Cooper S can have) and a trailer hitch. I can deal with the non openable sunroof, but a trailer hitch is non negotiable to me.
I don’t want to pull big trailers, but I do want to add a small bike carrier. I absolutely love doing bike tours and would like to be able to take my bike on a car trip.
At the car dealership they told me it’s not possible to have a trailer hitch added at all.
On the internet I saw people who upgraded their Mini with a third party trailer hitch.
Has anyone here done that? Was it possible or where their any drawbacks?

Who's been the furthest on a single charge?

... And which variant/year do you have?

I haven't tested it yet so I'm curious to see what kind of range you're all getting in your electric MINIs.

I recently went on a 171 mile trip and went from 85% to 19%, so used 66% for my trip. This would suggest a 100% range as being around 250 miles at 57-70mph.

What kind of actual range are you getting, which MINI variant do you have, and what's your average cruising speed?

I've had my new 2026 U25 for almost two months now and had an interesting experience a couple of days ago.

I had to mount a kerb to let another car through on a narrow road. I took it nice and easy and drove up a dropdown at only a couple of mph (I'd never mount a kerb unless there's a dropdown there).

Anyhow, there was no dropdown when I needed to get back on to the road, so I took it slowly and carefully.

As soon as my tyres touched the road I got the "bonnet is open" warning. I stopped further up the road, and as I suspected, the bonnet wasn't open. I had to open and close it to dismiss the warning.

So I tested and did it again, this time on a very low kerb - I'd guess only probably 3 inches. Exactly the same thing happened.

Once again I had to stop, open the bonnet and close it again for the warning to go away.

Are they over-sensitive, faulty, or is there something I'm not understanding?
