Meet Oliver

Meet Oliver

I picked up Oliver at a shelter. He was originally from Georgia but was shipped up to Massachusetts because I guess they have a problem with too many strays down there?

He has an interesting story. He was actually a surrender from a family but when he was going through the system someone mistakenly marked him as a stray and neutered him and clipped his ear before realizing he was surrendered and scheduled for relocation.

Oh well, no cat shows for him.

He also was in the shelter with one weird cloudy eye which the people at the shelter said "would clear up". Well, 5 years later and we know he's actually blind in that eye and it will never be better than it is.

Like all oranges, he's a big derp and he also loves to scream incessantly at me whenever he thinks he's hungry. Not very cuddly but he will sit near me almost all the time (likely looking for his next meal).

300 miles on a charge? Yup.

Decided to charge my 2021 Bolt EV Premier to 100% and see exactly how far it could go on a single charge. First, some background: Battery was replaced under recall around September 2023. This represents almost no highway driving. I live on an island so the average speed is around 30MPH. Also, we have had a bit of a chilly spell here and as a result didn't have to run climate control save for an occasional defrost of the windows on rainy days.

No lie, I was biting my nails when I got the first "charge vehicle soon" message at 10%. I decided to push through and see if I could crack 300 miles on a single charge.

I had to make a stop for some edibles near the end of my trip that forces me to take a 1 mile trek on a stretch of highway with a speed limit of 45. That's when the gauge started blinking orange at me.

Unnerved, I pressed on. I got my edibles which I feel I really need after that experience and headed home. These pics were taken as soon as I pulled into the driveway.

So, mission accomplished I guess? Would I run my car down this much again? Ummm, no. Was it an interesting experience for me? 100%.

Printing stuff for fish tank

I bet this isn't asked very often! I was thinking of printing some stuff to decorate my fish tank and was wondering 1: Is it safe for the fish? And 2: What is the best filament to use if it's going to be submerged in a fresh water tank?

I know filament tends to absorb moisture but didn't know if it would break down over time in a fish tank.

Conservative driving + warm weather = RANGE

2021 Bolt with a battery replaced under recall in 2023. Charged to 100% overnight and woke up to this range estimate!

I guess not driving like a dick has its advantages. :)

Two bills found in fiancées girl cave. Any value?

My fiancée passed away last week and while I was organizing stuff in her "girl cave" I found these. The $20 bill says it's from 1934 and the $1 is from 1935.

Do these have any value in their current state?

Technique? I think I got it.

Nothing like an extra 44 miles for not driving like a dick :)
