me again :( - I got my K1 working and it was printing loads of stuff over the weekend but I started to see an error (CL2537) when it is doing the bed level check before a print

So the error text on the screen is [CL2537] The leveling sensor may have an external disturbance, please try again after resolving.

I haven't rooted the machine at this point - would that potentially help?

I can't see anything obviously wrong with the lead screws/etc and it's literally only done maybe 10-15 hours of printing since new. The error has been somewhat intermittent but currently after a power cycle, it is still doing it and so won't print. When I have got it to z home correctly, it has printed perfectly.

Any ideas on how to solve this or what to check are gratefully received - thanks in advance

K1 novice having problems with filament out detection

TLDR: low print hours K1 detects filament out only before it starts printing and then won't give me any other option except "Refill" or "Ignore" in a constant loop despite filament being loaded correctly and extruding manually absolutely fine.

I've got a love/hate relationship with this damn printer. I bought it as soon as it was announced and got it some time in mid to late 2023. I've managed a few prints from it including an 18 minute (I think) benchy. I liked it but then I started to have problems and between having other less problematic 3D printers and being too busy, it just sort of sat there.

Fast forward to late 2024 I learned that there was a hot end issue but that I'd missed the window for a replacement which was annoying but I bought and fitted a genuine replacement hot end and tried some more but still wasn't having any luck.

I've fired it back up again today and it did a firmware update so I'm now on 2.3.5.34 and I tried to print a stored one layer square that I've used on a few printers to check the first layer. It did its calibration including the line of PLA down the side of the bed and all is fine. As soon as it decides to print, I get a notification that the filament has run out.

On the K1 touch screen I get offered options "Refill" or "Ignore" but no matter what I do, the printer immediately puts those two options back on the screen. I'm not running the colour changer - just a spool of PLA on the back.

I've checked that the PLA is loaded correctly. I've tried genuine Creality PLA and Sunlu PLA+ but nothing changes. I can heat the nozzle and extrude to my heart's content and it produces a nice steady, consistent thickness flow without error.

I have opened the filament detector up and everything looks clean and is working correctly. I can feel the spring tension when I push filament back into it after refitting it all. I've reseated the connector on the filament detector which was hot glued in place but I can't find the other end of the cable. I tried running a print with the filament detector cable unplugged but got the same issue.

I've ordered a replacement filament detector as that's only cheap and will be here tomorrow but I wondered if anyone else had experienced this. The search only turned up abrasive filaments and this printer a) doesn't print that stuff yet and b) has only done a small amount of printing ever. It just seems really strange that extruding alone works perfectly for 3 goes but it detects a runout before it actually starts printing.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Royal Mail left a card saying that we need to arrange a redelivery with a website address and reference number. Go to the website and enter the reference number only to be told that the only way to arrange a redelivery is to install their app. I'll be phoning the number in the morning instead!
