The Perfect Parking Spot 💡

In my ongoing quest to locate a really ideal parking spot when I'm not Valleting or when it's unavailable, sometimes parking way out doesn't help either. Because when you return some genius decides to troll you by parking right beside your car. Of course the most ideal spot is never between 2 vehicles in a public lot. For obvious reasons. And even parking besides Handicap spaces doesn't always work out either.

Here we have the most ideal situation: Not only next to a island/median, but it has lines for additional space. My phone can't capture it correctly, but the passenger side literally allows for that vehicle to open their door all the way. Of course provided they know how to actually park between 2 lines.

iX MSport 60 - real world range

We regularly do a 293 mile journey from Hertfordshire to Cumberland and one of the criteria when we decided to replace our Range Rover with the iX was that we wanted a car which would allow us to do an end to end journey without finding ourselves with little or no range at the end of our journey.

After three end to ends when we’ve stopped and topped up en route today we left Cumberland with 100% and 380 predicated range … 5 hours later we finished our journey with a reading of 23% and predicted range of 97 miles.

Granted we were in efficiency mode and used DAPP for a good 80% of the journey but all the same the journey was pretty close to optimal at 3.4miles per KWh

Hope this helps anyone interested in range!

To mullet or not to mullet

I’m not massively into road cycling but have a decent 10 year old Merida 300 cyclocross bike which is fitted with a fairly standard Shimano 105 10 speed cassette and twin front.

Whilst it’s fine for most of my use - I’m spending an increasing amount of time in the U.K. Lake District where gradients are regularly 15% and some routes from our house can quickly hit 20% with extremes of 25%

With a current FTP of 150 I either simply avoid particular routes or accept the fact I’ll need to walk!

So … thinking a cassette with a 52 would probably solve the problem should I consider changing the gearing setup or is it simpler to bite the bullet and buy (invest in 😉) a new bike.

I’m fairly mechanically capable but if I need to replace the 105 handlebar shifters I know the answer. So simply is it feasible to replace cassette, chain and derailleur arm or would this be a mullet too far?

Recommendations for floor and boot mats

Having received the exciting news that my iX MSport xdrive 60 is scheduled to go into production next week (I have the VIN number) thought it’d be useful to ask for thoughts about mats and boot protection.

We do have an elderly Basset Hound who moults 365 days a year and our use case also includes working with horses so I’m likely looking for rubber hose able ones.

Obviously there are a range of third party ones but I don’t doubt BMW will try and upsell me a set at close on £300

So any thoughts or recommendations from real users?

Also any other useful accessory recommendations?

TIA
