Spinnerbait size

so I have this decently large spinner bait, and I was watching a video from NwTrailSeries and saw he had a similar spinnerbait. low and behold, he put on the exact 4” crushcity mayor swimbait that I have as a trailer in the same color. I threw one on here, and I was wondering if it’s too big or should I leave the trailer on. Fishimy upstate ny and the adirondacks.

Jig question (swim jig in picture, applies to all jigs)

just had a question on jigs, never used em before but got a bass pro xps swim jib with a crushcity cleanup craw as a trailer. got 2 other flipping jigs too. do bass bite over the weed gaurd, folding it over and exposing the hook? or do they bite inbetween? sometimes both? and are there are tips for better hookup ratios? I feel like the weed gaurd can really keep bites from not setting but I have no experience.

The season has finally started

headed up to the adirondacks for a night at a family friends cabin about 2 hours north of where we live. upstate ny has been very slow getting into this year. caught this guy ( 1.9lbs), a rock bass that I didn’t bother weighing, and 2 nice small mouth with one of them weighing just over 2lbs. early morning topwater up in the adks is insane although we decided to head back to camp at 11:00 due to unexpected wind. and i was trying to hold up a “1”, as in the first fish of the day, but in the photo it looks like a hand sign lol.

I want to reorganize this seasons tackle yk far, any suggestions?

Box 1: crankbaits and jigs. total of 9 crankbaits, 2 flipping jigs, and a swim jig.

box 2: swimbaits, topwater, chatterbaits, and a jerkbait. 4 chatterbaits, 4 topwaters, 2 swimbaits, jerkbait.

box 3: spinnerbaits/spoons/junk: 4 spinner baits (one is mini), 2 spoons, a fluke, and trout magnets.

box 4: terminal tackle/pre-rigged soft plastics: 2 sizes of jig heads, EWG, 2 sizes of circle hooks, snaps, wacky rig O-rings, bed rigs, Texas rigged craws, tubes, and swimbaits.

any suggestions are appreciated!

Snap swivels? Do they really make an effect?

I’m a personal user of snap swivels, primarily because i change baits often and tying knots isnt easy for me whenever I’m out on the water. I used to only use them on baitcasters because i only use moving baits on them. Now I have one on my spinning rod because I’m using braid for the first time and have a leader, and I don’t want my leader to be 1ft after I change baits a couple times. any suggestions/advice?

Worried that 10lb braid is going to be too light

just spooled my spinning setup with some 10lb braid with 14lb mono backing, and I’m worried it’s too light. I’ve heard 15-20lb is perfect for all around and that’s what this setup is for. any thoughts?

Leader question

my last post about spooling my spinning rod everyone said do not use the Berkeley vanish as main line. decided to go with some 10lb braid for the first time with 14lb mono backing, and I’m wondering what line I should use as a leader to the braid. apparently Berkeley vanish sucks but 14lb mono seems a little bit heavy so any advice will be appreciated.

Fluorocarbon question

gonna respool my spinning rods with 10lb fluoro I got at a garage sale 😭. what’s the memory on fluoro like? is it similar to mono? should I soak it in some hot water after spooling? Also don’t know if there’s enough line on the spool so should I do a little bit of mono backing?

second year surf fishing, mainly targeting striper and maybe bluefish. this is 14lb mono backing (bought a big spool so I can use for freshwater too), and 30lb braid. planning on getting like 50lb flouro leader. Fishing at cape cod, MA
