Travelling to mizoram !

Hi, travelling to mizoram October mid, for the first time. I am talking to local cabs for rates and an itinerary. Also I noticed, cab rates seem to be expensive compared to other NE states, is it normal ?

I have travelled to other north east states before, and loved the nature, beautiful valleys and views.

So would like to keep a similar itinerary.

Do suggest changes! Or do you think this is fine ?

Do share your recommendations as well.

I'm yet to find a good stay in aizwal, will search this reddit.

Below is the itinerary shared by cab guy.

  1. Day 1 - (Sun) - Airport pick to hotel. Visit Aizawl Peak (Skywalk), drop to hotel

  2. Day 2 - (Mon) - Thenzawl trip - Tropic of Cancer, Hmuifang mountain, Sialsuk mountain, Vantawng fall, Tuirihiau fall, Dilpui lake and back to Aizawl

  3. Day 3 - (Tue) - Reiek mountain trip, Heritage village, Tlawng river and back to Aizawl - visit Solomon Temple, 14 Beans cafe and drop to hotel

(I plan to go to Reiek early in the morning, hoping to find other locals or peeps so I could tag along)

  1. Day 4 - (Wed) - Hotel to Airport drop

Morning free time.

Meghalaya trip (on going)

Currently on my solo meghalaya trip.

This is my 5th trip, at this time, it's my default go to place during the monsoon. 3N trip, didn't plan any specific itinerary, kept it flexible due to the season.

My itinerary

Day 1 Airport to sacred forest , stay near sacred forrest (sacred forrest is a personal preference, i like the peace, views, .. )

Stay : kyiem nest

(Beautiful village views)

(room rent 2200 approx / single occupancy)

Day 2

Trip to Kyntaiai Valley with my local friends

Stay in sohra , kutamadan resort

(Reasonable rates 3.5k approx , beautiful views)

(No network, wifi works)

Day 3

Full day sohra sight seeing (relaxing day)

Waterfalls mostly

Day 4 (plan)

Sohra to shillong

1.shillong peak

2.Don Bosco museum

To the airport return home.

I usually book a private taxi for the whole trip for comfort.

However, meghalaya has a good local transport system , lots of options of sharing cabs, etc..

Current weather

I got lucky, heavy rain during the night mostly, mild during the day, didn't bother me much till now.

Visibility in sohra is tricky, keel flexible plans.

It's mostly cloudy, on and off.. so seven sister view could be hit or miss. I got lucky this time.

My personal advice.

1.Meghalaya is a beautiful and clean place, people are very kind, and helpful, be a responsible tourist / guest.

2.Don't come with fixed bucket list, keep it flexible.

3.Homestays are very good options, and a good way to connect with the locals, they are more than happy to help you out with transport / places recommendations. Dont forget to do your basic research first.

4.Keep a garbage bag with you, don't litter, be a

responsible tourist.

5.Keep raincoat, extra towel, socks, slipper etc..

I also have a 3080 rog strix, that I can trade + cash.
