Learning to build out a real time grant funding system.

Hey yall,

I just started my new role as a junior data analyst 🥹. I am learning the business needs. I work for a no profit org that provides legal aid. Cases and task are billed to the respected grant program. What we are running into is, while closing the books normally case workers and lawyer over bill to one program vs another because no can visually see what is currently in “encumbrance for that month.

I figured building a real time grant funding system using power bi, postgreDQL and RESTapi from the platform that we input the data in. I am open other ideas that could be easier.

Thanks in advance

The things is I don’t know where to start, I want be lean and have a simple solution that can be scaled up and replicated if need be.

Thanks in advance

Southern Bi Men, where do yall congregate?

Hi,

I live in Texas and new to being queer and proud.I am new to my sexuality and coming to terms with all the different parts of it. I am a 30 year old bisexual women.

I think it’s important to mention I am Nigerian and the homophobia I grew with really made me believe I could simplify my sexuality. I grew up in the redeemed and evangelical Christian way and have left “the church” a few years ago.

Well now I just want to live a happy life with folks that get me.

I have always known that I am bisexual, I thought I could date and have long terms relationships with straight men and gay women. I am learning my sexuality it far more complex then that.

I have learned recently I prefer bisexual man and women. I love men, especially a men lets me say yes daddy to and wants me do anal play on them. I have learned that I like bisexual men that enjoy their masculine identity and is a switch in the bedroom.

I love tall big muscular men that have good style but have such shy submissive personalities and tendencies about them that I want to nurture.

I think I enjoy that about myself, I love how feminine I am but how Dom my personality is. It’s feels so good to love in a dominating way that is nurturing and gentle way.

I get asked out a lot by straight men and I think it’s because of how femme presenting I am. I don’t think many folks even consider the idea of me being bi. I get so nervous to say I am bisexual or into bifolks. I am a learning to say it now.

I want to learn to be more proud of my sexuality and meet my bifolks. Especially here down in the South - I am in Texas.

Thanks in advance.

Curious about Philanthropic Data and System Administrator

Hello, I curious to understand the experience of Senior Data Analyst working in the philanthropic sector. I see my career heading in that direction and want to be proactive in what skills to develop and which are a waste of time.

I have about 3 years of course work in Computer Science. I am familiar with Python, R, Sava and Julia. Working a certification on Coursera with IBM for data science . I like what I am learning but I all realize it’s in relation to big data. Which I am still trying to wrap my mind around to understand what is big data.

My career so far has been about a 2 years in Donor Databases and a year in Data and System Administrator with grantmaking of city funds. 1 year of grantmaking program evaluation using MEL

I enjoy the work and I hope to get a MS in Data Science and get into Philanthropic Research and MEL work or as Director of Data and Operations with a nonprofit organization.

What are special skills you have had to acquire that a “technical data analyst” might not have had to acquire?

When interacting with Chief Advancement Officers what are disconnects that you notice no matter the organization that you now prepare for?

What are helpful tools in ensuring donor databases and department data is most secure and reliable?

What is best practice for keeping data clean and swiftly available for pulling and transforming ?

How you pick the best data pipelines for organizations ?

Hiring manager asking what is the minimum salary I will accept, unsure how to move forward.

Hi,

I am interviewing for a compliance specialist role focusing in evaluating and continuous improvement for larger local foster care agency

I am not sure the best way to reply to the hiring manager. I asked in my first interview what the salary was, they called a few mins after ending the interview to share but I missed their call.

I did get an email the next day asking me, "Is there a minimum salary that I would not accept?" They mentioned in the email speaking to their supervisor, and they shared HR handles job offering and salary range, and everything in between.

So now I am stuck I don't wat to low ball or aim too high as well.

There is no guarantee I will be advancing to next stage and don't my answer to be the straw that disqualifies from this role.

Edit: This is a full time role with benefits.
