Lawyers using Plaud or other AI note-takers for client consultations — what has your experience been?
I’m an attorney at a small law firm focusing primarily on estate planning, probate, and business law. We’re exploring AI note-taking solutions for client consultations, and I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who has used Plaud or competing services in a professional setting.
Our primary goal is pretty simple: we want to spend less time taking notes during consultations while maintaining a comprehensive, accurate record of what was discussed. Often, several weeks pass between an initial consultation and when we actually begin drafting documents, and it’s easy to lose important details or context that weren’t captured in our handwritten notes.
Most of our consultations are in person, although we also have some phone and video meetings.
I’ve personally used a Plaud Note Pro and generally had a positive experience. We’re now considering Plaud Team, potentially using its desktop application exclusively without purchasing recording hardware (we like the Plaud Note Pro; we don’t like that it cannot be synced directly with a PC and must be synced with a phone/other mobile device).
I’d particularly appreciate feedback on a few things:
Plaud Desktop: Has anyone used it extensively for in-person meetings? How well does it capture conversations using a computer’s built-in microphone or an external conference-room microphone?
Accuracy: How reliable are the transcripts, speaker identification, and AI-generated summaries? Have you encountered significant omissions or inaccuracies?
Plaud Team: Has anyone deployed it across a small office? How well do its shared workspaces, permissions, and administrative features work?
Alternatives: Has anyone compared Plaud with Granola, Fireflies, Otter, Pocket AI, or other services? Did you find one substantially better than the others?
Confidentiality: For attorneys specifically, how have you approached client consent, privilege, data security, retention, and vendor confidentiality agreements?
Integrations: Has anyone had success incorporating these services into Google Drive or Clio workflows?
We’re not necessarily looking for the most sophisticated platform or extensive workflow automation. Our priorities are ease of use, accurate and detailed documentation, and reasonable cost. Ideally, we’d like something that can operate unobtrusively in the background without requiring much attention during consultations.
We’re still evaluating options and will likely test one or more before making a firmwide commitment.
I’d especially like to hear from people who have actually used Plaud Desktop for in-person meetings, rather than just Zoom or Teams calls. There seems to be considerably less information available about that particular use case.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations or firsthand experiences!
