Looking for people really passionate about programming

Just wanted to share something I noticed.

Namma side la programming ah genuinely interested ah irukura people romba kammi madhiri theriyudhu. Most people studies/work kaaga mattum programming learn panranga. But actually nerd ah, things epdi work aaguthu nu deep ah dig panra people, especially low-level stuffs like C, systems programming, OS dev, game dev, Linux, graphics etc romba less.

Enaku local community irukradhu important nu thonudhu. Same interests irukura people kedaikalam, knowledge share pannalam, together ah projects build pannalam, and namma own language/context la technical stuff discuss pannalam.

Western communities la indha maari culture konjam strong ah irukku. People build things together, share what they learn and help each other. Tamil side la especially Discord la, in-depth programming discussions and communities romba kammi ah irukku.

So konjam people serndhu oru small space create pannirukom. Strictly programming and low-level nerd stuff ku mattum. Beginners welcome, but genuinely interested ah irukanum. Just degree/exam kaaga learn panra type illameh, actually things explore panna interest irukanum.

We're also working on a centralized GitHub resource hub where we can collect and share useful books, docs, tutorials and other resources for learning low-level stuff. Basically oru place la useful resources ellam organize panna try panrom instead of everyone searching from scratch.

Idhu advertising purpose illa btw. Server ah promote panna vida, genuinely interested people kedaikanum nu dhaan share panren. If you're actually into this kind of stuff, DM me and I'll send the link. Random ah join panni inactive ah irukradhu vida, interested people mattum irundha community better ah develop aagum.

Idk indha sub ku idhu fit aaguma nu, but majority people inga active ah irukanga so just posting incase someone else is into the same stuff. Just a small initiative from us.

Note : Vibe coding strictly prohibited in our community.

Note 2 : For low level programming only, but anyone have interested can join.

Note 3 : Currently, developing a huge wiki/megathread to find resources easily for learning. guys who join in can able to contribute to it.

Looking back, I probably missed everything

So guys, just wanted to share my life story. Romba serious ah illa, just mind la irundhatha share pannalam nu thonuchu.

Naan diploma padichitu irundha time la, first year mudichitu hostel ku thirumbi vandha oru time, first time I saw her. Paathadhum pesanum nu thonuchu, so slowly pesi we become friends. Apram somehow ava number kedaichudhu.

Starting la just friend ah dhaan approach pannen. Sometimes night la veliya poi summa pesitu irupom. Slowly we get to know each other.

Apram dhaan enakku therinjadhu, ava mostly lonely ah iruppa, and she was also going through some mental health problems. So naan just oru friend ah irundhu support panna try pannen, advice kuduppen. But obviously ellame work aagathu la. Sometimes advice work aagum, sometimes onnum panna mudiyathu.

Studies busy aaga aaga, naanga rendu perum different class, so munna maari regular ah pesa mudiyala. But we sometimes talk each other whenever we have free time.

Ava en poly pakkathula ava grandmother veetla stay pannitu irundha. Sometimes enna and our friends ah veetukku koopitu sapda veppaa. Sometimes midnight la kooda random ah text panni pesitu iruppa.

Oru time friends ellarum serndhu theatre ponom. Appo naanga rendu perum pakkathula ukkandhu, same popcorn share pannitu irundhom, even our hand get touched. Appo adhellam normal ah, just close friends moment nu dhaan nenachen.

Time flies. Diploma mudichitu degree start panre time. En own reasons nala naanum slowly contact lose panniten with her.

Apram enakku university placement kedaichuchu. Oru naal, ava friend mooliyama therinjadhu ava en university pakkathula irukkura vera university la padikira nu.

So romba naal aachu la, meet pannalam nu nenachen.

Oru naal I visit her college. Ava class break vara varaikum wait pannitu irundhen. Romba naal kalichu first time paakumbodhu, honestly, "damn, romba change aayita" nu thonuchu. Enakku ava romba beautiful ah therinja. Mature ahvum irundha.

Rombe neram pesinom, old things, studies, life la enna nadakuthu nu ellam pesinom. Then slowly we back to contact each other.

Then one day I ask a question

"Do you still like me?"

Yes, probably idhu dhaan naan panna worst decision.

Ava sonna, naan ava life la oru good close friend ah irukkanum nu dhaan, life partner ah illa nu.

Apram dhaan ava oru vishayam sonna. Diploma time la ava enkoode couple aaganum nu sila hints kuduthirundha nu.

Aana naan appo adhellam notice pannave illa.

Few days later, she block me from all of social media.

Konjam weird ah irundhuchu honestly. Sometimes ippo kooda yosippen, "appo naan konjam properly understand pannirundha enna aagirukkum?" nu.

Maybe relationship aagirukkalam. Maybe illa. Maybe naan appove understand pannirundha avalukku better ah irundhirukkalam. But idhellam ippo yosichu enna use nu theriyala. I don't want to ask her either.

I think ippo distance irukkaradhu rendu perukkum better dhaan.

Ippo naan en life ah focus panna try panren. Studies, programming, future la enna panna poren nu explore pannitu irukken. I don't have social media either except reddit as for forum stuffs now.

Ippo enakku romba friends um illa. So sometimes thaniya irukkumbodhu indha incident mind ku varum.

I don't really know why I wrote all this. Just wanted to share it somewhere.

Maybe idhula perusa lesson kooda illa. Sometimes life la sila people varanga, konjam time namma life la irukkanga, apram contact illama poidraanga. That's it.

Anyway, if anyone has any thoughts about this, feel free to share.

Thanks for reading guys and this happen a very long time ago.

From NixOS to Void

Hey guys, I’ve been using NixOS for a long time with Niri + Noctalia Shell. Ngl, it’s been a really great experience and I don’t have much bad to say about it.

But after a while I got bored, so I decided to try Void Linux. Honestly, Void is great. Simple, stable and pretty straightforward. I didn’t wanna setup Niri again, so I just went with KDE Plasma and kept the default settings. Tbh I’m happy with it.

One thing I’m wondering that I know Void doesn’t have as many packages, so I’m thinking of using Nix on Void. Not really sure how to set it up tho, since Nix is usually pretty systemd-oriented.

Also, I normally install auto-cpufreq on all my distros. I tried installing it manually from GitHub since I thought Void might not have it natively. If I do that, do I need to create a runit service for it to start properly? Same question if I install Nix?

Everything else is already setup. Just wanted to ask about this. So far, Void is actually really good. Might stick with it for awhile.

Sometimes I feel like I don't really fit in with other students

Hey guys, just wanna share some thoughts about my experience as a student. I'm studying engineering rn and I've been into computers and programming since I was a kid, so naturally this is something I genuinely enjoy.

Sometimes I feel like I don't really fit in with other students. Not cuz I think I'm better or anything, I just genuinely enjoy learning this stuff. I can spend hours trying to understand some random programming thing or how something works underneath, even when it's not related to my assignment. If I find something interesting, I'll probably end up learning it myself anyway lol. Maybe I'm just a nerd 💀. But sometimes it gets kinda lonely when you don't really have ppl around you who are into the same things. I have classmates I can talk to, but I don't really feel like I can talk about the things I'm actually excited about.

And then there's the whole ChatGPT thing. I've seen ppl basically throw their whole assignment into ChatGPT, copy the answer without understanding it, and even buy projects just to submit them. I'm not trying to act like I'm some genius or that I never use tools, cuz obviously I do too. It's just weird to me when the goal becomes "how do I finish this?" instead of "how do I actually understand this?" Especially in programming and engineering topics. I feel like fundamentals really matter. You can use AI, frameworks, libraries, whatever, but if you don't understand what's going on underneath, sooner or later you'll get stuck. Maybe that's just me, but I actually enjoy figuring things out myself. I guess that's part of why I feel kinda disconnected from ppl around me.

I spend quite a lot of time in online communities with devs from different countries, and I feel more comfortable there cuz we can talk about Linux, programming, open source etc without everything being about assignments or grades. I do wish we had more communities like that here in Malaysia, but that's another topic lol. For now I'm just gonna keep learning and doing what I enjoy. I don't have everything figured out and I'm definitely not saying my way is the right way. Maybe I'm just in my own bubble. But sometimes I wonder if anyone else feels the same, like you actually enjoy what you're studying, but still somehow feel out of place around the ppl you're studying with.
