Hong Island, Krabi — Today (Rainy Season)

People often avoid Krabi during the rainy season, but this was Hong Island on a day without rain.

3-Day Kanchanaburi Itinerary from Bangkok (Nature, Waterfalls & Hot Springs)

If you’re looking for a nature getaway from Bangkok, I highly recommend Kanchanaburi. We recently did this as a 3-day, 2-night road trip, and it was a great mix of waterfalls, hot springs, and relaxing by the river.

Day 1 – Bangkok → Kanchanaburi
You have two good options depending on what you enjoy:
Option 1: Explore Kanchanaburi town
Wat Tham Suea (Tiger Cave Temple)
Bridge over the River Kwai
This is a more relaxed sightseeing day.
Option 2: Erawan National Park
If you enjoy hiking, spend the day at Erawan Waterfall instead. The road is a bit winding, and reaching the upper tiers requires quite a bit of walking, but the beautiful emerald pools make it worthwhile.
In the evening, check into a riverside resort near Sai Yok Noi. Many resorts offer bamboo rafting on the river, which is a great way to relax before ending the day with a Thai BBQ (Moo Krata).

Day 2 – Waterfalls & Hot Springs
After breakfast, we visited three places:
Lin Thin Hot Spring – A small local hot spring where you can soak before getting a traditional Thai massage. The massage was surprisingly good and cost only around 200 THB per hour.
Pha Tad Waterfall – One of my favorite waterfalls in Kanchanaburi. Foreigner entrance fee is 300 THB. The walk is short, and you’ll reach the beautiful third tier quite easily.
Hin Dat Hot Spring – This hot spring has large soaking pools and a cool stream nearby, so you can alternate between hot and cold water.
After that, we returned to our riverside resort to relax and have dinner.

Day 3
Enjoy breakfast, check out, then either:
Explore Kanchanaburi town if you haven’t already, or
Drive back to Bangkok.

Overall, I think this itinerary is perfect if you want to escape Bangkok for a few days and enjoy nature without flying.
Have you been to Kanchanaburi? I’d love to hear your favorite places there!

Affordable local duck noodles near Ao Nang

As a local living in Krabi, I’d love to share one of my favorite affordable local food spots near Ao Nang and Nong Thale.

They serve duck rice, duck noodle soup, and roasted duck by the portion, half duck, or whole duck. Prices are very reasonable, with duck rice and duck noodles starting at only 60–70 THB.

The duck is tender, flavorful, and served with a rich broth and delicious homemade sauce. It’s simple local food, but absolutely satisfying.

The shop opens in the evening and is located near the entrance of Klong Root (Klong Nam Sai), making it a great stop for dinner after a day of exploring Krabi.
If you’re looking for authentic local food without tourist prices, this place is definitely worth a try
