how often do you use heat on your relaxed hair?

So i’ve been relaxed before but not professionally. just my mum and a box relaxer. i went natural, couldn’t do it so i texturised for a few years and now i’m going back to fully relaxed. this time, im going to a professional and i’m trying to do it properly, i want to grow my hair healthy and thick but something that kind of confuses me is how often heat is used.

if we are washing our hair once a week, wouldn’t blow drying and straightening once a week be too much? I’m kind of scared of heat for some reason so i thought of getting a dyson to blow dry my hair after i wash it once a week and if i straighten it maybe i can try and push it to once every two weeks? but all the leave in and moisturising products(i have dry hair) i fear it might end up all disgusting with product build up. does heat not damage relaxed hair as much as i think?

edit: thank you guys for all the replies. from what i’ve gathered many if you blow dry or hood dry with rollers or use a steam cap instead. I am thinking of investing into a dyson so hopefully my hair manages that well

how to get the most out of repeating a year

Hey guys! Some of you may have seen my previous post about failing 3rd year and how difficult I’ve found it. I’m still not feeling 100%, but hey, i need to move on at some point right?
I’m hoping that, having already been through the year once, I can use this time to strengthen my academic and professional portfolio rather than seeing it purely as a setback.
I’m pretty set on dermatology, I genuinely can’t see myself doing anything else tbh, and I’ve joined the dermatology society this year, which I’m really excited about.
So far, I’ve been involved in an audit in paediatric infectious diseases, and I’m thinking of doing a QI project as part of my SSC this year, but maybe with that audit i should try and publish and/or presenting it at a conference as i think that gives you points? and maybe do another one for the dermatology society with one of my friends.
I’m still trying to understand how the points/portfolio system works for specialty training, especially for dermatology, so I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has been through it.
What things did you do during medical school that genuinely helped strengthen your portfolio/application? And is there anything you wish you’d started earlier?

I failed 3rd year of medical school

I just got my resit results and I have to repeat the year
I just got my results for my resit exams this year and honestly, I am so incredibly sad.
Unfortunately, I failed both the MCQ and OSCE. I missed the MCQ pass mark by 4% and the OSCE by just 2 marks.
I knew the OSCE would probably be the reason I ended up repeating the year because, from what I’ve heard, people who fail the OSCE at the main sitting often struggle to pass the resit because the resit stations are made significantly harder while the pass mark stays the same. I was really hoping I would prove myself wrong, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.
Repeating might seem like nothing to some people, but this year has genuinely been the most difficult year of my life, both physically and mentally. The thought of having to go through all of it again honestly makes me feel so depressed.
I was really looking forward to 4th year. I genuinely felt like I would thrive in that environment because of the teaching style, the placements and the way the year is structured. The worst part is that I chose this university partly because the course was shorter than other medical schools, and now I can’t help but wish I had just gone somewhere else.
I hate how every time I get excited about something and allow myself to feel optimistic, it feels like it doesn’t work out. I hate feeling like I have to try so hard just to be mediocre. I hate feeling like I have to figure everything out by myself and find my own way through everything.
And what I hate most is that right now, I genuinely feel like I’m never going to get over this.
I know this probably sounds dramatic. I know that, objectively, repeating a year isn’t the end of the world. I know that 10 years from now this will probably just be a tiny part of my story that I barely think about.
But right now, my heart genuinely aches.
Getting into medical school was probably my greatest achievement. I worked so hard to get here, and seeing everything I had planned for myself fall apart feels like my whole life is falling apart with it.
I know I will eventually have to pick myself up and figure out what to do next. I just don’t know how to do that right now.
I guess I just needed somewhere to say this because I don’t really know what else to do.

extra: if anyone knows about the academic review submission and what to add so they accept me repeating the year please let me know!
