Does a 4-year gap after B.Tech affect M.Tech placements?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to seek some guidance from those who have gone through M.Tech or are familiar with placements.

I completed my B.Tech in (ECE) in 2021. After graduation, I started preparing for SSC CGL and dedicated the last few years to it. Unfortunately, things didn't work out, and I've now decided to move on from that path.

I don't have any work experience, and I'm now planning to prepare for GATE and pursue an M.Tech.

My concern is whether this 5**-year gap** and the lack of work experience will create any issues during M.Tech placements. Do companies visiting IITs/NITs/IIITs consider such gaps negatively, or do they mainly focus on your M.Tech performance, projects, and technical skills?

If anyone has been in a similar situation or has seen students with such a background get placed, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience.

Thanks in advance!
