I m worried about mattress like should I bring my own from home or buy there
Heard that prices will be too high there can any senior or someone can clarify what will be price of good mattress and pillow
Some senior offered mattress at 2.5k in good condition so if old mattress is 2.5k then worried what will be price of new
As stipend is just 12.5k and heard all will be gone in fees and have to add more from our own pocket
Thanks in advance

I will be joining iisc this year for bs program (mathematics) and am going to buy a new laptop. What are the things to look out for? Is a gaming laptop really necessary?
Help with IISC Bangalore BS-MS admission through IAT.
I am getting IAT CRL rank of 3x which is under the last two years of cut-off. Can you guys please tell how is the admission process through IAT channel and when will the admission be confirmed. Should I also apply to the IAT counselling?
What purchase made your hostel life noticeably better?
I want to make the most of the ongoing Amazon sale and was hoping to get some recommendations.
I've already covered all the basic hostel essentials, so I'm not looking for the usual utility checklist. This time will be a bit different since I'll be joining IISc and it'll be my first time living far away from home.
I'm more interested in things that made your hostel room feel more comfortable, enjoyable, or just made life a little easier. It could be anything—from a small aquarium, room decor, ambient lights, your desk setup, a good mirror, or a comfortable chair, to practical items like an electric kettle, a small blender for protein shakes, or any underrated utility you ended up loving.
Basically, I'm looking for things that genuinely improved your quality of life in a hostel room, even if they aren't "essential." I'd love to hear your recommendations.
Mess Fees
I received a mail that my mess entry will be stopped if I didn't pay my dues till 7th july. Just wanted to know what is the procedure of unblocking. Currently I am not in campus till August.
Online delivery
Do basic online deliveries, like parcels from Amazon or Flipkart, and food deliveries from Zomato or Swiggy, and basic items from blinkit or zepto, arrive at our hostels or we have to go to the main gate to collect them?
Do the guards check the parcel like what we have ordered?
Incoming IISc student here, looking for a complete guide to hostel allotment for PG course and how to maximize the chances of getting a good hostel
Which hostels are generally considered the best, and why?
Which hostels should one hope to avoid, if any?
How many hostels in total? (Male)
What's the current status of Aryabhatta Hostel? Is it fully occupied, partially vacant, or are there still rooms available for incoming students?
Arriving a couple of days before hostel allocation to skip the queue, has anyone tried this hack?
Possibility
I have an EWS rank of 420 in IAT. Should I expect IISC Bangalore or look for others?
10th Original Marksheet misplaced
I am going to join MTech this year. I have misplaced my original 10th marksheet but have the xerox copies of them. Have all the other original documents. Have emailed IISc admissions dept and awaiting a response. If anyone has had a similar experience, what did you'll do?
Incoming UG students. Have doubts
Genuine questions. I know about placements and we should not come to research for placements but if I have to go for a job after bs (or bsms) can I sit in placements and get a good job based on my skills and portfolio (relevant to those companies or what they offer)? On campus and off-campus.
Do they look for "btech" tag if I go for off-campus? Because I have heard companies don't come that much in IISc, but as new btech programs and mtech students are there will there be increase in companies and placements?
My rank is in 1500s in iat can I join iisc banglore?
reddit.comDoes a 4-year gap after B.Tech affect M.Tech placements?
Hi everyone,
I wanted to seek some guidance from those who have gone through M.Tech or are familiar with placements.
I completed my B.Tech in (ECE) in 2021. After graduation, I started preparing for SSC CGL and dedicated the last few years to it. Unfortunately, things didn't work out, and I've now decided to move on from that path.
I don't have any work experience, and I'm now planning to prepare for GATE and pursue an M.Tech.
My concern is whether this 5**-year gap** and the lack of work experience will create any issues during M.Tech placements. Do companies visiting IITs/NITs/IIITs consider such gaps negatively, or do they mainly focus on your M.Tech performance, projects, and technical skills?
If anyone has been in a similar situation or has seen students with such a background get placed, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience.
Thanks in advance!

Eligibility for MTech (Research) at IISc
Hi all. I am currently in my final year of a Bachelor's degree in Physics (3Y BSc program). I am interested in working in the field of Neuromorphic Computing, and have an ongoing research internship for the same. I aspire to take admission in IISC for my Master's, particularly in the NeuRonICS lab, which comes under the Department of Electronics Systems Engineering (DESE). I have read about it on the internet and visited their page, and to me it seems like the premier place in India working on this subject.
As per my knowledge, IISC takes in candidates for MTech programs through GATE. Now, the GATE website shows that candidates in the 3rd year of a 3Y BSc program (or with a completed degree) are eligible to appear for the exam. However, IISC's admission/programs website shows that a minimum of 4 years of bachelor's education is required (equivalent to a 4 year Bachelor of Science BS (Research) degree) for admission in MTech (Research) under DESE.
Currently, my institution doesn't offer a 4 year BSc but instead a 1 year MSc diploma, which would result in a 4 year Bachelors degree if i exit right after, instead of completing the full 2 year MSc. They have said that the final degree will bear the title of a 'Bachelor of Science in Physics'. Could someone please clear this query of mine? Also,
For students and postodocs currently working in the NeuRonICS Lab, how's it? Is the work intriguing? Insights regarding Lab culture, opportunities etc. are appreciated!
What about DESE in general? Funding structure, Grants, Scholarships available to students etc.
Course to improve GPA
Suggest me few courses that can be taken this Aug term to improve my GPA
And what is min criteria for placements I'm really worried abt it
Internship Fraud - Part 2
No action has been taken against the said individual Kaushal Tiwari. His whole lab knows of his wrong doings and still they are not calling him out publicly.
This is a serious issue and I'm going to attach the exact proof along with this post! No more hiding names! (Except the victim of course). Y'all can clearly see the SEALED document issued from him, along with his signature.
The victim has also been receiving multiple calls, pressurizing to take down the post. This is being done by this guy and his close friends. I'll talk in detail about this in the next post, along with some more proofs!
(@iitwitharmaan) Armaan Gupta recently posted a reel on the topic, which was later taken down after a cry baby request from this guy. I have been following Armaan for a long time, and really wish that he will support this case so that no such incident happens with innocent students in the name of internship. These graduates rip us off and use our helplessness to trick us into these frauds.
I call upon all the academic influencers to at least make a post or story or reel on this.
Our education system is already critical, let us not break it from the bottom as well ❤️🩹
Dating scenario in IISC
Okay, so, this is a fun post please don't start, this is right, that is wrong in the comment section. I am asking this casually only.
So, I am typical north indian, 5 9 guy, with lean body (lost 10 kgs before college), what is the dating scenario, especially for PGs?
Which course or subject at iisc turned out to be much harder than you expected?
Some courses look manageable at first, but once the semester gets going, the workload, assignments, and concepts can be far more challenging than expected.
Every student usually has that one subject that completely changed their expectations. Sharing those experiences can help others know what to prepare for and what worked when things started getting difficult.
