Family island suggestions with toddler

Hi!

I'm starting to plan a trip to the Bahamas for May 2027. It will be my husband, a 3 year old, and myself. We've never stayed on a family island and there are so many options!

I've been to Atlantis 10 times but we haven't spent much time off Paradise Island (just a few short boat trips).

I was thinking of flying in through NAS, going to a family island for 2-3 nights, staying at Atlantis 2-3 nights, then flying back to the states through NAS.

With that schedule in mind, what island would you suggest? We don't get seasick, so plane or boat transport is fine.

We're very laid back and like to do the basics - beach, swim, maybe snorkel, and history stuff. Toddler is pretty active.

Budget for the family island portion of the trip would be about $3,000 (lodging + transportation+ activities).

Where should we start? Thank you!

Normal playground parent behavior?

I'll start by saying I don't often take my almost 3 year old to playgrounds because there's not many around us, so maybe this is normal?

We went to a splash pad birthday party with about 12 kids, mostly around 4-5. There's a huge playground next to the splash pad - great concept, horrible execution. Plus it was drizzling. Kids were CONSTANTLY getting hurt and parents weren't around or paying attention. Not just scrapes and bruises, but falling from the top of the big slide, 4 year old slipping off the monkey bars, kid falling from a rock climbing wall. I wiped so many tears and had to find so many moms.

Is this normal parent behavior?? Am I just too careful? I normally stay out of people's business and I know I'm extra cautious, but a 2 year old fell off a ladder and banged her head.

I've thought about trying to take him to more playgrounds in local communities since it's nice and he's getting bigger, but today was so stressful!

"The ICU is not medically necessary for respiratory failure"

No question. Just reason 10,987 the US healthcare system is absolute trash.

My toddler was in the hospital and spent two days in the ICU for sudden respiratory failure. But now begins the approval nightmare because apparently there's not enough evidence of medical necessity.... after a diagnosis of respiratory failure... for which he needed breathing assistance.

I work in healthcare and I have my doctorate in healthcare administration, but I'm still not immune to the disaster that is the system and I'm lucky to be able to mostly navigate it. For others though, it's so much worse.

Wish me luck in fighting the good fight!

Ps - he's doing great now! Rhinovirus triggered new onset asthma.

Best Hotel with a View

Hi! We'll be visiting in Oct/Nov with a 3-year-old. We're looking for suggestions on the hotel or resort with the best views! We live in farm country Ohio, so a beach vibe is top priority even if it's too cold to swim.

We're renting a car so we're not worried about walkability (would be nice to be within 30 minutes of the SD airport though).

I was looking at Humphreys, Mission Bay Resort, and Loews. Any suggestions or others? TY!
