This backpack was designed and crafted with my dad.

This is an older project, but I finally got around to showing it off. My dad designed and crafted this backpack (with me helping out on the build). We used a mix of nubuck and veg-tan leather, and hand-stitched everything with 1mm thread. The Loxx fasteners were a game-changer for quick access. Really happy with how it turned out what do you guys think?

François found my aviator cap and respirator mask online and asked if I could combine them into a full helmet with an industrial feel. I said yes.

The hardest part was the goggles. I wanted them fully molded and asymmetrical so the eyes sit level when worn, which meant I needed custom molds. I bought a Prusa MK3 and learned enough Fusion 360 to design them myself. There were multiple failed prototypes before it finally worked. The brass canisters were also made from scratch.

He kept sending sketches and feedback through the whole process, and somewhere along the way the commission turned into a collaboration. We became friends through it.

After I finished the helmet and shipped it to France, I thought the project was over. Then his wife invited me to his 40th birthday as a surprise. It was my first time there. I brought an improved version of the helmet as a gift, and he took these photos himself.

He named it the Dust Angel.

I’m Pavel from Romania. I work with leather alongside my dad, who taught me the craft, but this helmet was my own project.

Not pure cyberpunk, but I thought the industrial retrofuturist vibe might fit here.

Full leather helmet, hand-stitched. The brass canisters I made from scratch as well. Custom 3D printed molds for the goggles to get the asymmetric shape right. Built it for a guy in France who saw my work online. Took 6 months to refine the design and learning how to do basic 3d shapes and mold the leather.

He named it the Dust Angel.

Photos by him. I'm Pavel, from Romania.

François found my aviator cap and respirator mask online and reached out asking if I could combine them into a full helmet with an industrial feel, but shaped around his own idea. I said yes.
The hardest part was the goggles. I didn't want any stitching on the eye sections, I wanted them fully molded, clean and continuous. The asymmetric shape, so the eyes align properly when worn, meant leather alone wasn't enough, so I had to design and 3D print custom molds. Wood would normally work for this but 3D printing let me get more complex shapes without a CNC machine, which I couldn't afford anyway.
I got a Prusa MK3 and learned Fusion 360 just enough to design what I needed. Multiple failed prototypes before it worked.
He was sending sketches and feedback the whole time and it slowly turned from a commission into a collaboration. We became friends through the process.
