Cosplay Check - Allgemeine Pflicht?

My last time was 10 years ago, so I'm not quite sure: When I go with Cosplay...

Do I have to use the east and north entrance for the checkup? I'm talking "helmet and medium-length-cape" cosplay, no prop, no wings, nothing. Just me, a funny helmet, gloves, fabric, a backpack with food & water, and a cape.

10 years ago even the furries walked straight through the south gate - Is that still the way to go or is the Checkup mandatory for all people with costumes now?

How has it been organized the last few years?

Barnaby figurine video is up too!

I'd love to see your input and tips!

He took me pretty long, and the plastic joints didn't work as intended (too big) but that's what these figurines are for: Learning to model and fun!

For Howdy I think I'll really have to do the ball joints myself, all DIY Clay-BJD-style! (Jeez, with 8 limbs that's going to take a looong while again... Who would have thought I'd end up making colorful puppet critters before humanoid or boney monsters...?)

So, I think the next video might take until Halloween or later? We'll see!

Here are the links:

Barnaby joined! (Figurines)

*Finally* I can stop chasing this dog around!

... Sorry for the horrible pun and the delay, life had it's own ideas on how I was supposed to fill my time.

I still have to edit the modelling & painting video - and it will probably take another few weeks for me to finish - but once again, here are the materials:

- Air drying Foam Clay

- Water color

- Metal sticks

- And an unusual tool: Ball-joints for e.g. a certain "brick toy" set that often comes in combination with tech (Won't use them again though; Too big for my figurines. That's why Barnaby has only his shoulder moving although I had planned it for his elbows too - originally.)

Next up is the neighborhood caterpillar! What to do about his joints though? I am not sure yet. Maybe I will have to do the entire thing myself like with Ball-jointed dolls?

In that case, I will definitely take you with me for the entire ride! See 'ya soon, neighbor!

Autophage cosplay - progress & materials

Hello everyone! (This will be my last post for the next 5 months, don't worry)

Unfortunately the current weather in Germany prevented me from going there with my autophage cosplay, so here are some progress pictures and a list of materials used instead:

Helmet

  • A basic "cyberpunk" Paperkura template
  • Eyeballed the rest (especially the snout & lenses were a real nightmare)
  • EVA foam in different diameters
  • Foam clay for the gaps, chitin pieces & lenses
  • A dremel to add sharp edges to the lenses as foam clay dries puffy & smooth (great for cute or organic things though!)
  • Wood burning iron for details like the "screws"
  • PVC tubes with thick wire core, painted with permanent markers
  • RGB cob LED strips, soldered (I tried the "no soldering clip" option too but those are too weak for circular bending. The LED are also VERY bright, so protect your eyes!)
  • Velcro dots for the scarf to hide my throat & to attach the chitin parts
  • Lots of layers of spray paint
  • Glow-in-the-dark paint + some grated pastel chalk to intensify the color of the details

Cape & mantle

  • EVA foam for the cape's plate
  • PU leather for the strips
  • Eyeballed the "living frigate" pattern
  • Silver jacquard fabric, darkened with watered down acrylic paint (via spray bottle)
  • Vinyl foil + glow-in-the-dark-foil (the light blue parts)
  • Bought, resewn and painfully painted "mantle"
  • The "gambeson piece" has those light, plastic sheets inside that are used as filling material (they can be sewn with a sewing machine and are great insulators, too good of one to be worn during +30°C though)
  • The chitin parts are made from foam clay with an EVA base for stability

... Total time:
Well, I started in June last year so... ~10 months for the helmet? The rest was relatively easy. I might post some actual Con-pictures after the Polaris in October, which is a more YouTube oriented convention and usually during... less sunny times. I'll likely leave Emul at home because of that, so the "weird blue rabbit" won't be there :P

... Aside from obvious, smaller repairs, of course!

Featuring:

  • Advanced facial unit
  • living frigate cape
  • chitin exoskeleton parts (minus the spikes, too dangerous fro the con)
  • inherited clothes set

... And Emul from Shangri-La Frontier!
