As I eat a large slice of d'Affinois that was a work loss, it occurred to me…

d'Affinois is the cheese version of sous-vide cooking, Both are precision scientific culinary products/methods…that were created by the French. One of the most culinary societies ever came up with some the most nerdy, non-culinary, yet amazingly good, products of all time.

Pic of dinner, it was absolutely lovely with the golden ale.

They don't make them like they used to.

Had the body CLR'd ten years ago and it's been flawless since, and the lens is one of the most perfect tactile experiences I've ever had with a camera…the aperture ring snaps between settings like a bolt-action rifle and the focus ring moves perfectly smoothly with two fingers, with literally no play. There's something to be said about gear where the only plastic is the grip wrapped around the body.

If you haven't shot an entirely mechanical Nikon you're missing an Experience.

Hi.

So here's my current analog family…my Nikkormat EL with a recent CLA wearing a Nikkor 55/1.4, along with a Zoom-Nikkor 35-200 and a Micro-Nikkor 55/3.5, topped with a "Hanimex" 2-strobe flash.

I'm waiting on a 105/2.5 for portrait work, I have a friend who wants some shots and I'm thrilled to see what it all looks like with Portra 400.

I like to buy mini Harbisons and eat them sacreligiously…

I get the shtick, cut the top off and scoop out the creamy, yummy middle…but personally, that's losing half the fun–the rind is just as good as the rest of it! I like to get the minis, peel off the spruce wrapper, put it in a small bowl, and scoop the whole thing out onto a baguette. Why waste any part of one of the best cheeses ever??

Havelock Vetinari v. Petyr Baelish

Vetinari materializes in Westeros and takes the Iron Throne in about 3 business days…Littlefinger sees this new leader appear out of nowhere and decides that he must be too naive and inexperienced in the ways of the Seven Kingdoms to be much of a challenge, so he decides to make moves to claim control, whether it just be the "trusted advisor" who's actually running the show or taking the Throne for himself.

One round, soft power for control.
