Trying to decide between one expensive boot vs three mid range ones.

In my last hobby, watches, buying mid range mechanical watches and cheaper quartz watches with the exception of gshocks and smart watches were basically a waste of money. As soon as I would buy a mid range watch the itch for the higher level piece wouldn’t go away and I would end up selling the lot at a loss to fund the higher end piece that kept its value better.

Does the same apply in the boot world or do all boots not hold value at all.

And given my consumer habits would I be better off just getting the higher end boot or multiple mid range ones.

I am aware it’s all personal preference and depends on the individual but I would like to hear the experience of other boot addicts and how their journey went and which direction satisfied their addiction more effectively. lol

I am aware I made a post before that overlaps this one somewhat but that was asking about Thursday boots which I will be staying away from. This one is more one grail vs three mid rangers type of thing.

So I have been mapping out my roadmap and my 3rd GS boot is between the Edward black suede, diesel black wax commander, Elias black cxl, Chelsea black cxl, and the sand suede chukka. Probably during the next sale which is I assume Black Friday in November.

I am aware if I go sand suede chukka I don’t have to compare it with the rest because it’s a polar opposite.

And I already debated the Edward vs black wax commander in another post that I created.

My question is. To me it seems like the Elias and the Chelsea overlap a bit, considering the Elias is like, in my mind at least, a hybrid between an Engineer and a Chelsea. Do you agree with this?

And if you disagree and would add both in your collection, which one would you get first and why?

So I am still bummed that they aren’t coming to Vancouver. I am still holding up a slim hope that they come here still.

I am currently monitoring the seat availability in Hamilton because I plan to possibly go if they don’t come to Vancouver, which is highly likely the looks of it.

And I noticed something kind of interesting……

XG apparently is so far outselling Aespa in Hamilton. Which is kind of crazy and unexpected since I believe Aespa is a powerhouse similar to Twice. I would have thought they would outsell XG handily.

So my question is XG outselling Aespa because the tickets are on average $50 less? At least for the nosebleeds.

Do you think XG so far outselling Aespa will remain the case closer to the concert dates or will Aespa eventually make a late surge comeback and outsell XG like I assumed they would?

And if XG is outselling Aespa in Hamilton. And Aespa is selling much better in Vancouver. Does that mean therefore XG would sell out in Vancouver? Or does it not scale that way?

And if XG notices the Aespa sale discrepancy between Hamilton and Vancouver, will they decide to come here thinking that they will sell out here for sure? wishful thinking I know. lol

Anyways, I thought it was interesting and I am proud of our girls success.

I am thinking about picking up the highlanders in black shinki.

I just recently purchased my first heritage boot in the forest kudu grant stone garrisons. I have other boots from before but they aren’t good year welted like my dress shoes.

I was planning to get either more grant stones or some parkhurst next but then I saw these and kind of want them now. lol

These are seasonal and preorders though so my question is

1. Are they generally worth the premium?
2. if I miss this preorder period, do they generally make the same boot or a very similar boot during the next autumn winter preorder?
3. or should I just stick to the original plan and stay in the grant stone and parkhurst tier for now until I get my feet wet? Or maybe just dabble into the cheaper territory too like Thursday and redwings? Just to flesh out my tastes further before spending the $$$$.
4. if I do go straight to the highest tier that I plan to go…. lofgrens or viberg? I am Canadian btw so I guess it’s nice to support my country but if the Lofgrens are better they are better. if roughly equal, or if viberg is better, I might go viberg instead.

The cap toe in crimson chrome excel has caught my eye but I already have both shoes and boots with the same or similar colour. So if I grab a pair, I am definitely waiting for a sale or another colour.

And the only two other colours don’t have my size in stock.

Are they going to restock the colours, phase the line out, or add new leathers/colours eventually?

Curious if they have made a statement on this or not.

If it’s being phased out, I might just bite the bullet and buy a pair at full price before my size is gone.

I recently fell down the Boot rabbit hole and have been consuming Boot YouTube videos at an alarming rate. lol

So I am planning to start a bit of a collection. I got some Diemme fashion boots that aren’t Good year welted but have some Allen Edmonds Whistler boots from their big spring sale thats back ordered and still on the way.

I know Allen’s Edmonds quality has apparently really dropped off but I am fine with their recently built shoes and own multiple pairs and the fit is good for me, from the shoes at least.

I am planning to probably end this journey on some Vibergs or Lofgrens, maybe both, after I figure out my sizing in those two brands.

But in the mean time, I might add some Grant Stones or Parkhursts or something.

My question is, are Thursday boots worth adding to your collection too like you would add an occasional Gshock or Seiko to your Swiss watch collection or are they just so cheap feeling compared to Grant Stone and up that you shouldn’t even bother and just bank the $275 Canadian for when you splurge on the next tier eventually?

When I collected watches and other expensive hobbies I always found that just saving for the bigger ticket items was the correct way to go for my process/mindset rather than buying the more budget stuff and then immediate flipping them at a lost.

I know the journey is a part of the fun but still, I blew enough green on my previous hobbies to last a lifetime. I’d rather donate it this time. lol

Is this the case for Boot collecting too or are Thursday Boots worth having in the collection?

My sneaker size is 8 2E/4E.

Brannock is 7.5 2E on one foot and 7.5 4E on the other foot.

Allen Edmonds on the 65 last 7.5 EEE fit well.

I am considering picking up a pair of chromeexcel service 2030 when they have 7E back in stock. Which I assume is the right size for based on my internet research and Viberg’s own website.

If I decide to splurge and preorder the dark cognac shell cordovan service boot 2030… Should I go with 6.5 EE or 7E?

Also if money isn’t too much of a concern would you go chromeexcel or shell cordovan for your first pair of vibergs? Also cap toe vs plain toe?
