Stevie Wander - Tipping the Scales! ⚖️

Our sweet boy Stevie is in the home stretch with just 3 weeks of treatment to go, and is doing great! He has gone from 6.3 pounds at his sickest to 9.8 pounds, and his hematocrit has climbed from just 12% to 43%! 📈

We are so grateful for all the support and love for our boy. Sending positive vibes to all the FIP warriors! 🐾💙

Stevie Wander - Day 45 and thriving! ❤️

Stevie is just over halfway through his 84-day FIP treatment and doing amazing! 🎉💪

He's gained 3 pounds, his coat is looking so healthy, and his spicy little personality has really come out! He's also been getting much more comfortable around his new brother and sister, Sage & Hazel, and has started initiating play with them, which has been so exciting to watch!

The ophthalmologist would like to wait until he completes FIP treatment before scheduling the scarring injection to address his chronic inflammation from his eye surgeries. We're hoping the remaining 39 days are nice and uneventful so he can move on to the last step of his treatment.

If you'd like to follow Stevie's journey or help with his ongoing medical expenses, his GoFundMe link is below. No donation is too small, and every contribution or share is greatly appreciated!

Stevie is mortified! 🫣

When your mom spends an hour writing an update for your Reddit fans and includes the wrong link to your fundraiser. 😒😾

My apologies for the inconvenience! The fundraiser link has now been corrected in the original post. ❤️🐾

Stevie Wander - 1 month update ❤️

Major wins for Team Stevie! ❤️

Stevie had his 1-month bloodwork for FIP treatment today, and he is doing amazing! He has gained almost 2.5 pounds, his packed cell volume (PCV) was 32%, and his bilirubin was 0.2, which are both back in a very healthy range. The few values that are still slightly high or low are trending in the right direction, and we are now able to move from vet visits every 2 weeks to every 4 weeks!

It is such a relief to see him looking and feeling so good. He has settled into a routine of lots of snacks, snuggles, and proudly parading his favorite toys around the house. I think we're just now getting to know his true personality as he becomes more comfortable in his new home and starts to feel more like himself.

We are so grateful for everyone who has been cheering him on, donated, or shared his story. The donations have helped pay down the CareCredit balance from his hospitalization and, this week, covered the remainder of his FIP medication and today's lab work.

Although he is doing incredibly well with his FIP treatment, we still have a few more hurdles ahead. He will continue to need ophthalmology care, including a scarring injection to hopefully resolve the chronic inflammation from his eye surgery. If you'd like to continue following Stevie's journey or help support the rest of his treatment, I've included the fundraiser link below. Every donation or share truly helps and is so appreciated!

Help Stevie Wander Keep on Wandering

My cat Stevie Wander needs your help!

We adopted this sweet boy in March after he was rescued from a Maine colony in the middle of winter with severe eye infections that ultimately required the removal of both eyes.

Since coming home, he's battled complications and infections from his eye removal surgery and required specialty care. Most recently, he spent 72 hours in the hospital and was diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP).

The emergency hospitalization, 84-day FIP treatment, vet visits with bloodwork every two weeks, and ongoing ophthalmology care have resulted in significant medical expenses, with more still ahead.

If you'd like to read more about Stevie's journey or help by sharing or donating, we would be incredibly grateful. Every little bit helps! ❤️🐾

Help Stevie Wander keep on Wandering!

Hi everyone! I wanted to share an update on our sweet boy, Stevie Wander. ❤️

For those who didn't see my original post, Stevie was adopted in March after he was rescued with severe infections in both eyes that ultimately resulted in their removal. He has faced multiple medical obstacles due to complications from his eye surgeries and was most recently hospitalized for 72 hours and diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). He was critically ill with severe anemia, jaundice, and abdominal fluid and needed a blood transfusion and an abdominal tap to stabilize.

Thankfully, he's been responding incredibly well to treatment. He has gained 1.5 pounds since his discharge, his red blood cell volume (PCV) has doubled and is now just above the anemic range, and his most recent ultrasound showed very little residual abdominal fluid.

Stevie still has a long road ahead with 66 days left of FIP treatment followed by ongoing ophthalmology care to address the chronic inflammation following his eye surgeries. Despite everything he's been through, he has such a special personality and steals the hearts of everyone he meets.

If you'd like to read more about his story or help with his ongoing medical expenses, whether by donating or sharing, I've included the information below.

Help Stevie Wander keep on wandering!

Hi everyone! I wanted to introduce my sweet boy, Stevie Wander. ❤️

We adopted Stevie in March after he was rescued from a colony in Maine in the middle of winter with severe eye infections. Since coming home, he's gone from one medical obstacle to the next due to complications from his eye removal surgeries, and most recently a diagnosis of wet FIP.

He spent 72 hours in the hospital, where he received a blood transfusion and an abdominal tap. I honestly didn't think we were going to be bringing him home alive.

Today we're on Day 14 of treatment, and he's doing better than we could have imagined. He's already gained back over a pound, his appetite is incredible, and every day we get a little more of his goofy personality back.

We're so grateful this treatment is now legal in the US and that the hospital recognized FIP and started it immediately.

Between his emergency hospitalization, ongoing FIP treatment, follow-up bloodwork, and previous ophthalmology expenses, his medical bills have become overwhelming. Several people following Stevie's journey asked if there was a way they could help, so we created a GoFundMe.

If you'd like to read more about his story or support his recovery, I've included the link below.

Help Stevie Wander keep on wandering!

Hi everyone! Meet Stevie Wander. ❤️

We adopted him in March after he was rescued from a Maine colony in the middle of winter with severe eye infections. Since then, he's needed multiple surgeries, battled chronic infections and inflammation, and most recently was diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), a life-threatening disease caused by a mutation of feline coronavirus.

Thankfully, after a 72-hour hospitalization, Stevie is back home and responding really well to treatment. He's already gained back over a pound and is starting to act like his goofy self again.

His emergency hospitalization, 84-day FIP treatment, frequent follow-up bloodwork, and ongoing ophthalmology care have resulted in significant medical expenses, with more still ahead.

If you'd like to read more about Stevie's journey or support his recovery by sharing or donating, we would be incredibly grateful.

Introducing Stevie Wander

Hi everyone! I recently joined this community and wanted to introduce you to my sweet boy, Stevie Wander. ❤️

We adopted Stevie in March of this year, and he just has one of those personalities that steals everyone's heart the moment they meet him. He spent the first two years of his life in a colony in Maine and was rescued in the middle of winter with severe eye infections. Since he spent more time with cats than humans, I swear he thinks people are just really big cats. His favorite way of saying hello is to flop into you with a little body check, followed by wet nose boops and little love bites.

Stevie earned his name from one of his cutest little quirks. He loves to knead any soft blanket he can find and throws his head back while swaying it from side to side. It reminded us so much of Stevie Wonder that the name just stuck. "Wander" came from the way he confidently wandered and strutted around the house from day one.

Unfortunately, Stevie's journey hasn't been an easy one. Since we adopted him, he's needed another surgery, battled chronic infections and inflammation, and most recently was diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). Thankfully, after 72 hours in the hospital, he stabilized and was able to come home. He's responding really well to treatment, has already gained back over a pound, and is acting more like his goofy self every day.

We're on day 14 of the 84-day FIP treatment. After that, he'll head back to the ophthalmologist, and we're hoping a scarring injection will resolve the chronic inflammation so he can avoid another surgery.

We're committed to doing everything we can to get him through these challenges so he can have the long, happy, comfortable life he deserves. As you can imagine, his care has come with significant medical expenses and there are still more ahead. Several people who have followed Stevie's journey asked if there was a way they could help, so we created a GoFundMe.

If you'd like to read more of his story, follow his recovery, or support his continued care, I've included the link below (with moderator approval).
