A little glue…

A little glue…

My build of the Bookshelf Memories Tokyo Alley nook is going so badly that it has officially crossed from making me want to smash something to making me laugh uncontrollably. I have never had a glue bottle blow its tip off and splat glue like this. I am really not that strong. However, I am switching to my own glue now. And not just because I think half of the provided bottle is now on my glue palette.

I have to admit that I am tempted to ask the producer if they would prefer it if I just write them a report, because I’m pretty sure they are not going to be using my video as advertisement. 😆

Wish me luck.

These are addictive!

These are addictive!

Man these little tins are addictive! I find them like pringles - I couldn’t do just one!

(And boy I hope I got the photos right this time! This is my third try, because apparently I have no brain tonight, and if there’s a way to edit photos after you post, I can’t figure it out.)

Halloween cloche

My husband loves Halloween and so has already started shopping for it. He got this crystal ball cloche and wanted me to make some kind of scene inside it. So this is what I made! (I couldn’t figure out how to take a good photo of it closed, which is why the glass part is missing on the first shot. But I did give you a bad photo of it closed so you can see the general idea.)

It’s not anywhere near the quality of a lot of the stuff I see posted here, but it was my first try at doing any terrain. (And only the second cloche I’ve created.) So I’m happy with it as a first attempt! There’s lots to learn!

(I am aware that I also need to get better at photography!)

This was so small that it was tough to work in. I think telling my husband that will just encourage him to buy larger cloches for me to decorate. I should probably learn how to take better photos.

What songs demonstrate breadth?

I ran into yet another “why do people like Taylor swift when all of her songs sound the same and are about failed relationships?” posts. These drive me crazy because people don’t say “why do people like this rapper when all his songs are about how he’s awesome and men fear him and women want to have sex with him?”

But it got me to thinking: what is a set of half a dozen (ish) songs that would represent the breadth of Taylor’s songwriting, both stylistically and topic-wise?

Sweet Chapter problem

I decided that I wanted a palate cleanser after the very long build that was the Walking Castle so I decided to do this one. But I have theoretically finished the build and I have a piece leftover. It is E-1 and it looks like a big chocolate drip. I thought it would be like a sign or outdoor decoration.

But I have been through the manual three times and cannot find it mentioned anywhere. Also, it has two tabs but I don’t see any empty slots where it would go.

I know a few other people have posted this build, so I’m throwing myself upon your mercy! Help! This is driving me slightly batty!

Anavrin space kit price

I got an email saying “we saw you were looking at this” with a price of $129.99. Sigh. The kit looks so cool but that is steep.

I didn’t see the price on their page yet so I just thought I’d mention it. (I’m guessing it should not have displayed in the email.)

Really pleased

I am really pleased with the edge painting at the very bottom. It’s not perfect but I think I continued the stone pattern pretty well! And I had lots of fun doing it! I thought I was going to be a chore but it wasn’t.

The only downside is that I think something is defective with the electrical. I swear I tested it before assembly but now it only sometimes turns on when you connect the wires, and it isn’t controlled by touch switch at all. If the battery box had an on/off switch it wouldn’t be so bad, but as it is I’ve had to unplug one of the wires and just plug it in (multiple times, usually) to get it to turn on.

Oh well. My edges still look great. 😆

I’ve done my first big customization here (I.e. more than swapping a clear bead for a prettier one). I didn’t like the way the chair was upholstered or the fabric for the curtains so I swapped them out. I also actually sewed a pocket for the curtain rod and made end caps for the rod. Unfortunately that meant it wouldn’t sit on the little knobs it was supposed to (which I had already glued on.). So…hey, decorations! Add little pearls and a flower between them and claim it was supposed to look like that! Whee!

Now I’m just waiting for my new wire strippers to arrive tomorrow (mine don’t handle wire this thin) and I can finish the wiring and be done!
