Taylor Swift songs that have a self reference in the bridge or towarsd the end of the song.

My favourite kind of TS song is when she tells this whole story from the beginning of the song and then inserts herself or her name towards the end to give some kind of perspective or resolution to the story. The greatest example of this is Last Great American Dynasty -

Free of women with madness, their men and bad habits
And then it was bought by me

Then there is You are in love -

And you understand now why they lost their minds and fought the wars
And why I've spent my whole life tryin' to put it into words

Then there is Clara Bow -

You look like Taylor Swift
In this light
We're loving it.

If anyone can name more, I know there are more but I can't really recall all of them. Thanks for the help!

Edit: Manuscript is another song that fits. It starts with "she reads" & ends with "I re-read"

According to Page Six Taylor Swift will perform at the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony on June 11th

From the article:

"But sources tell Page Six Hollywood that Swift is also preparing for a different Big Apple summer soiree that will take place weeks before her wedding to the Kansas City Chiefs tight end. The “Love Story” artist is being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on June 11 and is planning to attend the ceremony with her family. Upping the ante, Swift will perform a song at the Broadway Marriott Marquis event as well, according to sources."

Showgirl has its detractors , and I am not saying you aren’t allowed to dislike it , but some swifties constant need to put it down is getting tiresome. Here is a normie NPR journalist reviewing it

In my opinion this is how most of the general American public looks at it ,like a fun pop album . I do not understand this constant need to be negative and dismissive especially in the face of swifties and other members of the general public who love this album.

In retrospect, which Eras Tour surprise song mashup do you think was the best?

It’s been 528 days since the Era’s tour ended and we heard the last surprise song mashup. I’m guessing that a lot of people on the sub (like me) have watched and rewatched at least some of these mashups, but which one do you think was especially fire and tops all others?

Do you think “willow” should be evermore’s track 1? If not; what would you chose instead?

Inspired by u/Ashleighinwonderland ‘s thread on IFTYE being the best track 1 and u/pedanticbutright ‘s comment response mentioning willow as one of their fav track 1s.

I never thought of willow as a strong track 1. I like the song, but I guess I subconsciously compare it to the 1, which is one of my favorite Taylor songs and an amazing track 1.

However, I just looked at the tracklist for evermore, and I might eat my words. A lot of great songs I love, but I’m not sure any would be the best option as a track 1 introducing us to evermore.

I’m biased towards gold rush maybe being a contender, another of my favorite Taylor songs. I remember it having a moment on Tik Tok too, and I think it’s generally a well liked song, so maybe it could have been a good single too. But I also love it as a track 3 following champagne problems.

Do you think willow is a good track 1 and the best choice out of all the songs off evermore (including deluxe tracks)?

Sidenote, I also am thinking about the general tracklist order. Do you have any options on the tracklist order?

I Forgot That You Existed is the best first track. In my opinion!

I don’t LOVE Lover as my fav album, but I Forgot That You Existed is the best first song on any of her albums. And then Cruel Summer?! Phew. I think the compilation of these songs and the order they’re in on this album is the best.

I always said it and I’ll say it again. SWEET NOTHING IS A SAD SONG.

The first time i heard it, i assumed everyone would agree it’s a sad song, and everyone i knew said it’s the sweetest thing ever😭

this is how i see it:

“All that you ever wanted from me was sweet nothing”- could mean he doesn’t ask her for anything he just lets her be (which i’m guessing it’s the original meaning). but also, that he doesn’t want “more” of her (marriage/kids).

The verse explains a small cute scene, kinda underwhelming… “everyone’s up to something”= everyone is going further and “evolve”, “the end is coming”= theres bot lot of time left.
“it happens all the time”= nothings new, same small comments. he doesn’t hate her, he just doesn’t wish more of her [Which is close to what we know about their break up].
“You Should be doing more”- the whole bridge is about how he doesn’t expect her to do more or ask her too, which she likes- but it really could go either way.

So… does anyone else see it that way? am i being too depressed 💀? thx for reading🥹

That viewwwwww of Portofino was on my mind...

New giclée print inspired by Elizabeth Taylor. It's not a color palette I use very often and I really enjoyed working with it!

"The Fate of Ophelia" music video reaches 400 million views on youtube

It is (by far) her most viewed music video of the decade, and is even getting close to music videos released during the peak of youtube!

What’s your current re-discovery song?

Lately I’m vibing to False God. I don’t think I appreciated this song initially. What are you listening to that sparked a newfound appreciation?

From an Older Article on the 2009 VMA Incident, but One Moment from the Aftermath is Honestly Stunning

This becomes so much worse when you know that Taylor and her mom broke down and cried right after the moment.

epiphany as incoming med student

something med school did not cover/

someone’s daughter, someone’s mother/

hold your hand through plastic now/

doc, i think she’s crashing out/

and some things you just can’t speak about

only twenty minutes to sleep, but you dream of some epiphany/

just a single glimpse of relief, to make some sense of what you’ve seen

epiphany came on my tswift shuffle this morning (right after wildest dreams lol, talk about whiplash) and i legit started crying thinking about covid and the experiences of frontline health workers.

i just got into med school and am starting this fall. my dad is a physician and was a frontline worker through the worst of the covid pandemic. he caught a terrible case of covid while working. he actually tore his abdominal muscles from coughing so hard. thankfully he made it through, but it was terrifying.

while i’m really excited about med school, things like the lyrics of epiphany temper that excitement with fear and sadness. still, i am firm in my conviction that this is the right path for me.

What's the best song to scream along to?

If you're driving a car, working out in your home gym, or just need to get out the inner rage, what's your go to Taylor Swift song for belting out.

For the hope of it all. A tribute to "August". Comic Version.

A few days ago I posted the watercolour painting "For the hope of it all." as my tribute to Taylor's song "August" which was my entry to her work back then. I come back to that motive of Augusta in the aftermath of it all from time to time.

Before I did the watercolour I painting I drew this version with pencil and digital colour. Only after finishing this I thought I'd like to do it again in classic mediums. Which I did.

What if “You’re on your own kid” used an impersonal or generic “you” instead of the personal “I”?

Just a thought exercise. What if it went “Summer went away, still the yearning stays, YOU play it cool with the best of them, YOU wait patiently….” and so on…The first time when I heard the song, I thought she was saying it (YOYOL) TO the person she was talking about, instead of herself lol! Would an impersonal “you” work better than the personal “I” here for coherence? No hate, YOYOK is in my top 5 of all time.
