Probably not many people can relate, but I like listening to ME when I don’t want my brain to do brain stuff lol. It’s so easy to listen to, and you just vibe to it without thinking too much. I find it relaxing.
What other Taylor songs do you think have the same effect? I’m thinking 22, Anti-Hero...
After dealing with heavy criticism and hatred, it had deeply affected my mental health and made me “scared” to say the least. Taylor’s song was the only gateway to regain who I really was and put into perspective that people are MEAN and you just have to keep your head high. They really helped me.. the songs that make you feel badass and wronged, but.. badass and ultimately, help you not give a fuck. She made me feel not so alone. Reputation is exactly how I feel lol. Songs like, “this is why we can’t have nice things”, “Elizabeth Taylor”, “actually romantic”, “look what you made me do”, etc. made me feel empowered and not so alone. Any other songs that hype you up after heavy criticism and are exemplary towards everything I stated here?
For those unfamiliar, a reprise revisits the main theme of the original song and is on the same album.
It's often shorter and softer but not always. Usually it's around the end of the album with the original song being towards the beginning. It can have lyrics or just be an instrumental. One personal favourite of mine is Liability (Reprise) from Melodrama.
I think Red would be a good candidate and I'd put it before Begin Again. The lyrics would mirror the chorus and it would have slower, gentle production on acoustic guitar.
