Any experience with 135mm to 150mm front hub MTB Tools adapter?

I'm updating my front fork from a generic spring shock to a Mastodon Gen 3. I currently have a 15mm x 135mm thru-axle. With the scarcity and price of wheels (everything) right now, I ordered an adapter set from MTB Tools. It looks to be a couple of spacers and a break rotor spacer along with the necessary hardware.

Is there anything I should be concerned about until I can get new wheels?

Concerning issue device not showing in Firewalla but has IP and network access?

tldr; new iPhone connected to my network AP with full internet access (Airplane mode on) but not showing in the Firewalla app at all.

I've had a pretty steady Firewall Gold setup with my Omada network. Uptime around 6 months until this weekend when I rest everything because of this oddity.

Friend came over with a new iPhone so we sat down to jump through the hoops of getting them on the network and out of quarantine. The usual iOS thing where I shared the Wifi AP password when prompted and then opened the Firewalla app to take the device out of the expected quarantine, but it never showed up.

We checked the Wifi settings and made sure the MAC address was fixed. I tried searching in the app for the MAC, the share name, and even the IP. His device was not showing up anywhere, in any group. Checking the Omada app I could see that his client was indeed connected and to which AP. I confirmed the IP was coming from the Firewalla as the only DHCP server and gateway IP for the network. We turned on Airplane mode and still he had full internet access with no sign of the device in the Firewalla app at all. Even after several app restarts and refreshes.

What in the world; How could this device be on the network and have access without actually showing up or being quarantined?

Question about rear wheel 190 vs 197mm for Aventure 3/M

There seem to be a lot more wheels with 197mm hubs than 190mm. I'm guessing there is something I don't know here and likely need to find a rim and hub then have them built.

First day road riding on my Aventure 3 and got a flat

Here is a fun one. I've got about 100 miles on this bike over the last couple weeks. Mostly path and gravel riding along with some exciting green single track mountain bike park downhills.

Yesterday I needed to pick up my car from the service department, and since I had left the bike rack on I decided to ride the 4 miles instead of taking an Uber. Three miles into the ride my rear tire goes flat. Holy hell my luck though. I was two blocks away from the only local bike shop for 20 miles. The guy rolled his bike snob eyes at me when I walked in with the Aventon, (there is a reason I bough my 3 from a LBS 20 miles away) but $60 and 20 minutes later I was rolling again.

I need to do something about these tires. (Well not these tries; next week I'm trading up to an Aventure M and will need to do something to those tires to mitigate this issue.)

Radiator fan turning on when the car is off draining battery. (2019 Hybrid)

Sorry the video is long, but I finally caught this happening. The radiator fan/cooling coming on sometimes after the car is on can be normal. The problem is this sometimes comes on all by itself sometimes in the middle of the night. I've posted about this before, but never caught it actually happening. The car was jumped, then flipped around in my driveway and turned off just before taking the video.

Took it into the shop last year and dealer just said it was the battery and replaced it. Took it to a specialty place and they kept it for a week trying to observe the battery draining. Neither service location could verify anything happening and blamed the battery. At the time I didn't know it was the fan coming on. Since then I have now seen it.

A YouTube video mentioned a stuck 3rd relay. Once the battery is changed I'm going to try and replace it. Any ideas what else could be causing this to just come on and drain the battery on its own?

Current ADV suspension upgrade?

I really like my fat tire Aventure 3, but that Current is looking really good. my only real concern is the travel on the suspension being low and my being at its weight limit. At the Current’s current price if the suspension could be upgraded it would still be a pretty reasonable price point with the cost of new parts.

Yesterday I found out about a local MTB park with several trails rated from a nice green loop to some over the top double black runs. First impressions being a big rider on my step-through Aventure 3.

  1. SO MUCH FUN!
  2. Maybe need to beef up the breaks
  3. This bike is heavy!

I won't be doing anything other than the green loop and basic green skills sections on this bike, but it was such a blast to take the big downhill half of the loop. My breaks got a solid workout, but also felt a little underperforming at times with my 300lb ass on it. Maybe 4 piston 220s if this is going to be a regular thing. (My youngest and I both had a a great time so it probably will be.)

I sorta wish I had gone for the Aventure M, but hey maybe I'll drop a few pounds and trade into a Current ADV.

I'm strongly looking at a Wahoo 24 Trail for my son. There are several Trek shops around, but we haven't been in one yet. I'm not sure if I should expect the pricing in store to be the same as the website pricing or not. Just doing more research before making the trek to the Trek shops.
