Dean Volk
Has anyone on here heard of Dean Volk, or used to help with their piriformis pain? I am desperate for help, but I am also skeptical.

I recently found a Facebook group who recommended Dean Volk. I’m pretty sure he started one of the Facebook groups, and he says that he can help. I’m very skeptical though. I’m just wondering if there’s anyone out there who has used him and had success.
I have literally been to a dozen doctors, and I’ve had a dozen injections, and nobody can help me with my piriformis, deep glute, and nerve pain. My MRI’s are normal.
The muscles in my glutes are pressing on my nerves, or my nerve is irritated and causing my glute muscles to tighten. How can nobody fix this or help me? I am literally losing hope. I can’t work, I can’t take care of my children, I can’t walk, sit, or stand without being in pain. I am just dumbfounded that there is no doctor or physical therapist that can help me.
It’s just insane to me. How do I have a condition that is incurable? I am just angry, sad, frustrated, and just completely giving up hope that anyone will ever help me.
My deep glute muscles are causing severe sciatic symptoms, and it doesn’t matter how I lay. I am getting burning nerve pain shooting all the way down into my heels. I can’t put any pressure on my glutes because that just makes the pain worse, so I have literally been laying on my stomach for an entire week. My neck is now hurting and my back on top of the glute and nerve pain. I’m on 900 mg of gabapentin and it doesn’t seem to be helping even though I’ve been on it for a while. I feel like the bottoms of my heels are bruised.
I have dealt with piriformis issues on and off for four years. The pain would get bad and I would stop working out, and as soon as I felt better, I would start up again. I did this on and off for four years.
On December 15, 2025 I did a glute and lower body workout where I did side lunges and squats. I started to feel a sharp pinching pain deep in my glutes and down the back of my thighs. Ever since then, no one can figure out how to help me with the pain. I have been to three physical therapist, a neurologist, who said everything looks fine, a sports medicine doctor, pain management doctor, and a rheumatologist.
No one can tell me exactly what is causing the nerve pain to shoot down my legs and into my feet. I keep telling them I think it is my glute muscles, but no one can help the pain to go away. I have had a ton of injections. Every time I start to feel a little bit better I feel like my muscles lock up and start pressing on the nerve again and I’m right back to square one. Then pain management tries to help, and it gets bad again.
The last physical therapist I went to on July 28 of this year did his fifth round of electro dry needling on my glutes, and it caused my muscles to completely become inflamed and clamped down. On August 7, my pain management doctor did injections throughout those muscles and into my piriformis with lidocaine and a steroid. I literally can only lay on my stomach, which causes my low back to hurt, and I am in severe pain constantly. I’m on 900 mg of gabapentin and currently on day five of a steroid pack.
I wake up in the middle of the night with my glutes on fire. My glutes are in constant pain. Ice is the only thing that calms the pain down but as soon as they warm back up, the pain is back. I am depressed every single day. The pain is 24/7 and I don’t know how to make it stop. If anyone has any tips or advice, they would be greatly appreciated.
I’ve always been physically fit and worked out, but I did a workout December 2025 and caused my piriformis glute muscles and potentially other glute muscles to severely pinch my sciatic nerves in both glutes. I have dealt with chronic piriformis pain for 4 years on and off, but after that workout in December, I have had constant chronic severe glute pain and sciatic nerve pain that goes down into my heels.
The nerve pain ended up going away at the end of March about four weeks after a pure performance injection, but I was left with debilitating Glute and low back pain from where they were guarding for months to protect my sciatic nerve.
I’ve tried 3 different PT’s, a neurologist, a sports medicine doctor, 2 PA’s, my family doctor, a rheumatologist, an oncologist, and a spine and nerve pain management doctor. I’ve had piriformis injections that have helped with the pain, but only when it’s numb, SI joint injections, quadratus femoris glute injections on April 9th that brought all of the nerve pain back that I had suffered through for 4 months.
It’s been another 4 months after the April 9th injection, with no end in sight. I went to a PT who did dry needling on my glutes and made the glute pain 100x worse.
I’m on 900mg of gabapentin and I can’t sit, stand, or walk without being in severe pain that makes me nauseous and dizzy. It’s been 8 months and no one can point to exactly what is causing my deep glute syndrome, because all tests are normal. MRI’s look completely normal as well.
I am desperate for a relief. People don’t understand what chronic pain is like until they actually are in it. I am in hell. I wake up depressed and anxious every morning because I know how miserable the day is going to be. I cannot live like this. I have kids to take care of. I’m a teacher, and I’m about to start back to work, and I can’t even sit or stand for more than 30 minutes without agonizing pain.
Gabapentin helps a little, I’m now on a Medrol steroid pack for the dry needling inflammation, and my pain management doc gave me another set of trigger point injections into my extremely tight muscles. I stopped all aggressive therapies, and have been keeping things calm, but it doesn’t help. The pain is relentless. Does anyone have any tips, advice, or anything that could help me?

I had dry needling sessions twice a week with the electric attached, and the first week was ok, and then the third and 4th sessions cause a severe pain spike in my glutes that sent me to the ER it was so constant and painful. It’s been 8 days since the last dry needling session, and the pain just gets worse and worse. I don’t know what to do. NSAIDS don’t touch the pain. A Torodol shot helped the pain for about 2 hours and it came right back. I do t know what to do.
Has anyone had Botox in their glutes? I was thinking about asking my doctor about it, but it sounds scary. For reference, i’ve had glute pain and sitting intolerance for eight months now. Trigger point injections in the low back didn’t do anything, SI joint injections didn’t do anything. A caudal epidural steroid injection made things worse. A low glute muscle injection made things worse and a piriformis injection allowed me to sit while numb. I was thinking about asking for Botox, because the pain at this point is excruciating and 24/7.
MRI or lumbar spine and pelvis are unremarkable.
I have had piriformis pain on both sides on and off for 4 years. About 8 months ago I hurt my glutes during a workout somehow and it caused severe pain when sitting. I could not sit at all and had to get on gabapentin for nerve pain relief. The pain is in my lower glute and is excruciating when I sit. MRI of pelvis and spine are normal. The nerve pain cleared up after 4 months and then my lower back and piriformis pain became severe.
A sport medicine doctor then injected my lower glute muscle and re-irritated the nerve, and I’ve now been in pain for 3.5 months and trying to lower the gabapentin because the side effects are horrible. I started a new PT who is doing traction that has helped my low back and dry needling in the piriformis that has helped a little, but the low back pain and glute pain have become unbearable. I can’t sit at all without triggering horrible pain in my lower glute back, glutes, and nerve pain.
I have seen 3 different PT’s, a neurologist, a rheumatologist, an oncologist a pain medicine doctor, and 3 family medicine doctors.
I’ve had SI joint injections that did nothing, a caudal epidural steroid injection that irritated the nerves so bad that the pain was unbearable, piriformis injections that helped while the numbing was working, low glute muscle injections that irritated the sciatic nerve, and low back trigger point injections that I just got today.
No one is able to help calm the nerve pain and stop the muscle pain. I’m 41, and I’ve always been physically fit. This pain has been debilitating. If anyone has any advice, or a similar experience, it would be much appreciated.
I’ve been on gabapentin 900mg (300mg 3x/day)and started to get off of it because of the horrible brain fog and not being able to think straight. I dropped to 600mg per doctors orders since he said I hadn’t been on it long I can do 600mg per month and then 300mg the next week, and then just stop. After the first 300mg drop the pain became excruciating. I have a chemically irritated and mechanically irritated sciatic nerve in my glutes. I have now been on 600mg for 2.5 months, because the pain won’t calm down. I’m scared to drop 300mg again. Are there any tips to help me get through the rebound pain and any anxiety. I’m already an anxious person, and I’m scared it’s going to cause me to have panic attacks. I guess I need reassurance, and advice. I think I may talk to my doctor about tapering 100mg every couple weeks. Idk what to do. I want off of it, but the pain is bad.
The joint tape in my upstairs bathroom started coming down everywhere. It gets no air throughout. There is no vent that goes into the bathroom so it is cold in the winter and hot in the summer. It does have a fan that we can turn on when we take a shower. I looked up what to do to fix the issues and I used flex tape on the joints, and then I used a joint compound to fill in the gaps over the joint tape. It was a fast drying joint compound so I had to rush. I sanded most of it down with a palm sander and that was a complete disaster. I am kind of stuck on what to do now. The ceiling has a textured orange peel. Look to it. Can anybody help me figure out an easy way to fix this?

Has anyone here ever had sciatic pain with no herniated or bulging disc? I have been dealing with this since the beginning of December after a cardio workout. I’ve had injections for pain, and I am currently trying to taper off of 900 mg of gabapentin because the brain fog is so severe. I’ve been on it for five months now. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice as to how to help with the pain in my lower back and glutes that is causing the sciatic pain to go down into my feet. Any advice is appreciated. I’ve been doing pelvic tilts, belly breathing, and core exercises per my Physical Therapist, but nothing seems to calm down the nerves. The pain is on both sides.
I have been on 900mg gabapentin for almost 4 months, and the side effects are horrible now. My doctor said to go down to 600mg for a week, and then 300mg for another week, and then stop. I’m terrified I’ll have withdrawal symptoms or that the pain with intensify. I’m mostly scared of the anxiety it could cause. Has anyone gotten off of 900mg after a short amount of time and been fine? I’m just looking for some reassurance.
