Singapore 96-hour VFTF for Indian passport holder with unused Australian visitor visa — will this work?

Hi all, looking for recent experiences with the Visa Free Transit Facility (VFTF) at Changi.

My wife holds an Indian passport and we are trying to confirm she can use the 96-hour VFTF instead of applying for a Singapore visa. Details:

- Itinerary: Koh Samui → Singapore (arriving 27 July) → New Delhi (departing 29 July), so about 48 hours in Singapore, arriving and departing by air

- She holds an Australian Visitor visa (subclass 600), multiple entry, valid until June 2028

- The catch: the Australian visa has never been used — she has not travelled to Australia yet

As far as I can tell she meets all the published ICA criteria (transiting between two third countries, onward ticket within 96 hours, qualifying visa with well over one month validity). The single-entry/used-visa restriction should not apply since hers is multiple entry.

Questions:

  1. Has anyone used VFTF with a completely unused Australian (or UK/US) visa? Any issues at Changi immigration or at airline check-in in Thailand?

  2. Do airlines flying Samui/Bangkok → Singapore reliably recognise VFTF, or is there a risk of being denied boarding?

  3. Anything beyond the visa grant notice, onward ticket, hotel booking and SG Arrival Card worth carrying?

Would rather not pay an agent for an e-visa if VFTF works, but happy to if people have had problems. Thanks!
