Sales Associate

I'm applying for a full time sales associate job at the Uniqlo flagship store at 5th Avenue in NYC. I've seen mixed reviews on working here but I've worked at Nordstrom Rack and just want better hours and don't want to work over time. I have an interview today but I am a little nervous. Are there any good things working here? i don't mind working on my own and keeping to myself and I was praised at Nordstrom rack for keeping my section very clean and organized so I have no problems doing that. I'm just tired of all the work drama at the flagship store at Nordstrom Rack

I dislike my job but afraid of moving on

I work for a Nordstrom Rack flagship store as an apparel salesperson. (28F for context) never had a retail job before and desperately needed something and they somehow accepted me on the day of the interview. 7 months later…. I’m not sure what to do.

Originally I said open availability but apparently to them that means I’m doing 5 nights a week closing which is literally impossible for me since I live about an hour or so away from my job and sometimes don’t get home until 11pm/12am. I told my manager multiple times (5 to be exact and once over text messaging) I can only work like 1–3 max work nights but I feel like they are taking advantage of me and my kindness and cause they have also mentioned this to my face m, that I am one of their best people there. (I work quick, organize/clean well and do what I’m told)

But what I’m also worried about is the beginning of this month, I had gotten an injury at work (a concussion) and have been out for 3 weeks now at this point. I can’t do anything strenuous and have to take it easy, which is kind of impossible to do as someone in apparel. But since I’ve already been there 7 months, I can possibly switch to a different department (because that’s the most time needed to switch to something else) and do the cash register instead and get different hours that way and ask my manager if that’s possible. I haven’t been trained on a cash register yet but I do pick up quickly. But if nothing changes I might have to move on from this but I’ve been constantly applying and haven’t gotten anything.

But my real career and passion is to be a photographer but those jobs are the worst to come by and just for stable income I need something. I feel like I’m really going anywhere in life right now and for context, I’m single and live with my Mom and don’t have to worry about rent or anything, but I would love to move out one day but with the pay rate I have and wanting to live in NYC isn’t ideal. But i just need any advice/comments/emotional support to see if I’m just being crazy for thinking of wanting to quit my job and try to get something else or if I should stay and wait it out and try to advocate for myself again to my manager at work.

40 hour rule?

I work at nordstrom rack flagship store in NYC in apparel for reference. At our store, we’re not allowed to go over 40 hours or else we’ll get written up. I think they still have to pay us if we do go over but I constantly have to monitor my hours. Even though it says I’m part time, me and a few others I guess are considered “full time” and I work 40 hours a week. I have been looking for other jobs that allow 40 hours so I don’t have to constantly stress about it. Like today, I already have 33 hours and work 8-5 which will likely put me at 40 or more unless I ask my managers if I can leave early or have a longer lunch break. It’s just really frustrating and annoying but does this happen at other Nordstrom Rack stores or are they just really strict because it is a flagship or does it have nothing to do with that?
